What you'll be doing

We are seeking an EVP, Emerging Businesses & Growth Strategy for Tableau. Reporting to Tableau's President and CEO, the EVP, Emerging Businesses & Growth Strategy will help to accelerate and drive Tableau's organizational product strategy, growth, and execution and will be responsible for helping formulate and execute growth-oriented product and business strategy for Tableau.

Some of the things you'll be doing include

  • Build a perspective on the future of the analytics market
  • Define Tableau's sustainable competitive advantage and role Tableau will play in the future market. Articulate the argument for future success of Tableau.
  • Evolve Tableau's business strategy to match future view with specific growth pillars. Model where Tableau's growth will come from over time - outline the shift of Tableau standalone to Tableau with Salesforce
  • Drive the growth of our Emerging Businesses and determine how to fold them into our ongoing GTM processes
  • Identify new sources of revenue
  • Craft multi-year product strategy to support the overall organizational strategy
  • Drive portfolio management for Tableau and plan corporate development activities to optimize for delivery for Tableau's Emerging Businesses.
  • Partner with Distribution, Marketing, Customer Success, Pricing & Packaging, Product, and Corporate Strategy teams to identify, develop, and operationalize strategic initiatives that accelerate Tableau's growth.
  • Work closely with GTM teams to ensure Tableau's continued customer success, ACV, revenue, and market share growth.
  • Review and recommend improvements for organizational alignment and operational motions.
  • Act as an advisor to the Tableau Executive Leadership Team and various cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of strategic initiatives.



Who you are

  • 20+ yrs experience leading a business or product line in platform or cloud services within enterprise software. Experience in the data analytics space is preferred.
  • Proven leadership ability to grow, develop, and retain top talent within enterprise technology organizations.
  • Strong general management and strategic planning skills combined with expertise in establishing and leading business planning and operational processes.
  • Experience in creating and executing strategic business plans and growing businesses of varying sizes. Experience helping to expand the portfolio of an existing experience would be ideal.
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple large initiatives concurrently across cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Product Marketing, and more) within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to think "big picture" and understand the key trends and levers that drive the business.
  • Results-oriented, highly motivated, and comfortable in ambiguous situations.
  • Solution Minded. Creativity in solving problems and generating innovative solutions.
  • Analytical. Superior analytical skills to solve and crisply articulate complex business issues to busy, fast-paced executive leadership.
  • Ability to influence key decision makers outside the direct management chain as well as strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to drive organizational alignment and efficiency.
