SUMMARY: The Enterprise Data Manager is a leadership role that is responsible for the delivery and operations of the Bank's Cloud and enterprise database environment. The role will collaborate with Planning, Architecture, Application Development, Information Security, Database Development, ITSM, and 3rd party service providers to create and support an operational environment for new and existing cloud data services. In so doing, the Database Administration Manager will be oversee the team responsible for administration of 3rd party system databases (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.), migration to cloud-native data services (e.g. RDS, Aurora, etc.), monitoring and incident response, and back-up/recovery (both in ad hoc and disaster recovery scenarios). The Enterprise Data Manager will work closely with both the CISO and CIO offices to ensure data systems are properly encrypted and secured and to ensure proper data protection and retention requirements are enforced. Furthermore, the position will also be responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to the Database Operations Teams that will report to directly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Help develop, maintain, and update the overall Enterprise Cloud Strategy and ensure ongoing adherence to
  • Drive architectural design patterns that focus on data security, data operational excellence, and optimization of data systems performance & cost efficiency
  • Maintain current knowledge of cloud trends & developments and act as an advisor to the Bank in reference to its cloud strategies
  • Contribute to the development of cloud standards, best practices and organizational cloud capability
  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of managing the Bank's Cloud Database Services including software deployment and upgrades, system setup, system administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine update of services
  • Review and ensure execution of plans for disaster recovery and business continuity as required (including periodic testing)
  • Ensure support for culture of continuous improvement, including identifying areas for potential improved automation and feeding back to relevant teams
  • Ensuring and facilitating knowledge sharing within the department
  • Participating in RFP's and RFI's
  • Create and maintain automated monitoring and reporting of cloud database infrastructure health, performance and cost control
  • Organizing the activities of the team, assigning staff to various projects and directing their activities through goal setting
  • Research and drive adoption of cloud-native technologies
  • Designing, developing, and modifying data infrastructure to accelerate the processes of data analysis and reporting
  • Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures
  • Evaluating the design, selection, and implementation of database changes by comparing them with business requirements and design documents
  • Develop and implement procedures for effective data management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises function, projects or services and/or one or more employees, as applicable.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • College degree or equivalent management/work experience (At least 10 years), which includes practical experience in Information Technology and IT Security Experience with cloud-based enterprise infrastructure architecture and/or operations required
  • 5+ years experience -- Vendor management and contract negotiation
  • Experience with access federation and identity management
  • Experience with cloud data services both relational (eg RDS, Aurora, etc) and NoSQL (eg DynamoDB)
  • 5+ years experience -- Broad project and system development lifecycle (SDLC) experience -- with an emphasis in enterprise environments
  • 5+ years experience -- Understanding of common DBMS platforms (eg SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc)
  • 5+ years experience -- of common database tasks and techniques (eg backup/restoration, replication/mirroring)
  • 3+ years experience -- with performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of database environments
  • 3+ years experience -- Data Replication, Database Security, Encryption, Compression and Data Masking/Redaction
  • 5+ years experience -- Production DBA experience with ability to work with Development teams on DB architecture and design
  • Experience with and knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux / CentOS is a plus


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) preferred
  • AWS Certification, such as AWS SysOps Engineer or AWS DevOps Engineer, is a plus
