The Enterprise Data Architect is a seasoned data professional who can formulate, consult, and govern Cambia's overall data architectural roadmap. Reporting to Cambia's Head of Data & Analytics, and in partnership with our CTO and the business, this individual provides key technical data leadership in support of Cambia's data strategy and for the planning and direction of major data initiatives with enterprise-wide impact.
The incumbent has overall responsibility and accountability for the data architecture impacting systems and services across all company business functions in alignment with Cambia's data strategy. This requires working closely with customers, colleagues, and other partners to identify and improve opportunities to apply appropriate technology and industry standards to converge enterprise architecture, improve data quality, optimize business processes, promote the strategic use of data technology, and enable the workforce to use technology. Success of this position requires innovation, flexibility, perseverance, the fortitude to make change happen, and the ability to communicate optimally with both technical and non-technical teams.
General Functions and Outcomes
- Plan, coordinate and be responsible for the update/creation of the strategic data architectural pillars underpinning Cambia's data strategy. This involves understanding business strategy and direction, collaboration with a wide variety of Technology Leaders, resolving philosophical differences on direction, and providing thought leadership on the best places to invest.
- Plan, organize, lead, and communicate the Data Architectural Technology Standards in alignment with other senior technologists to include data modeling and architecture practice leadership.
- Responsible for activities that contribute to planning, creating, and implementing a data architectural vision and strategy aligned with the company's strategic business plan.
- As part of the Data & Analytics organization, provide overall enterprise data architecture and system integration design guidance to the organization.
- Sees opportunities to effectively use emerging technologies in support of current and future business functions. Supervises the development and adoption of global data & analytics technology standards and standard operating procedures to bring about cost efficiencies and streamline system interoperability.
- Supports all architectural disciplines and champions critical initiatives that move Cambia's data strategy forward by partnering with Cambia's Enterprise Architecture organization.
- Has frequent communication with other companies and outside vendors on data issues and standard methodologies.
- Attends conferences and user groups; belongs to professional organizations.
- Demonstrable experience in a role the provides thought leadership and management to evolve data strategy.
- Ability to lead technical strategy serving to integrate existing platforms and databases, paving the way to simplicity.
- Experience designing and producing metrics enable measurement of data strategy value and demonstrate progress toward enterprise strategic alignment to Cambia's data strategy.
- Define migration plans to address the gaps between current and future state, while in sync with budgeting, enterprise architects, and program leadership teams.
- Experience with AWS or Snowflake platforms; experience with both is a plus.
- Thrives in the development and communicates architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to guide enterprise architecture decision making focused on data. Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly sophisticated environment using innovative technology and/or integrating diverse user systems.
- Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide enterprise architecture decision making.
- Broad knowledge of information technology, with extensive knowledge of several related systems applications and/or technologies.
- Dynamic leadership ability that can develop and energize multidiscipline, high-performance work teams to learn and apply new skills/techniques to business needs.
- Excellent oral and written communications; an ability to communicate and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
- Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement, involving broad based information systems, applying tools and techniques to effect business change; business systems analysis experience.
- Demonstrated competency in critical thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
- Good interpersonal, negotiating, and marketing skills to work with users, senior management, and external personnel on significant matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines.
Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:
The Enterprise Architect would have a bachelor's degree BS/BA, Computer Science, Product Management, or related field and 15+ years of experience in a variety of senior data architecture, engineering, or product roles.
