OneAmerica is looking for an Enterprise Data Architect. This position is responsible for defining a data architecture to enable current and future business capabilities. This role participates as a top-level expert in the enterprise providing direction and leading multiple efforts, or a single large effort in analysis, design, scope, and approach of a data architecture solution. The Enterprise Data Architect is charged with improving the consistency, timeliness, quality, security, and delivery of data. In addition, the Enterprise Data Architect must streamline data flows and remove unnecessary costs from the current data architecture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the performance of regular assessments of the health and maturity of data capabilities for a given business domain
  • Apply expert knowledge to identify new data capabilities needed to support business capabilities of a given business domain
  • Maintain the data repository with these identified needs
  • Lead efforts in defining the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, policies and Statements of Direction for data strategy and data architecture
  • Accountable for achieving business objectives and results
  • Partner with the Business and technical architects to enable the development of the Integrated Data Capability Roadmap (Data Domain Roadmap)
  • Provide guidance to cross functional team members to ensure goal achievement and team success
  • Partner with key stakeholders to build the business cases required to secure approval and funding for the Data and Analytical efforts needed to support the Data Capability Roadmap
  • Advise and make recommendations to senior management
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a conceptual model for data capabilities for a given domain
  • Understand end to end change impact by managing linkages from data capabilities to technical assets (operational + analytical)
  • Lead the development and maintenance of an integrated logical data model (Canonical Data Model) to understand data and its inter-dependencies regardless of its usage pattern
  • Provide consultation and guidance regarding the usage of the enterprise integrated logical model for use in development
  • Set the direction regarding the appropriate data sources to be used in solution development and delivery



Job Requirements

Recommended Education and/or Certifications

  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge of Financial Services products and processes (Life Insurance, Annuities, Investments, and Financial Advice)
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker, plans data architecture by studying the business/product strategy and target audience, envisioning architectural scheme, data structure and features, functionality, and user-interface design (APIs)
  • Develop and deliver data strategy and architecture artifacts; verify alignment of data product development to architectural design
  • Guide's problem definition and business question definition. Identifies user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; studying how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling; meeting with focus groups
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, mentorship, managing stakeholders & collaboration with architectural partners



Required Work Experience

  • 5 or more years of experience as an enterprise Data architect role acting as an individual contributor or leading a team in the design and implementation of a data architecture
  • 10 or more years work experience in data management or related experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience
  • Competent at: Modeling, Tradeoff Analysis, Roadmaps, Architecture Documents
  • Experience with cloud enabled and traditional data architectures
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background



Salary Band: 07C

As a condition of employment, OneAmerica requires that all new hires who receive a job offer on or after April 18, 2022 provide evidence of full or partial vaccination against COVID-19 within three days of accepting an offer letter with OneAmerica and before employment begins. If applicable, new hires must submit proof that they have received the second dose of a two dose COVID-19 vaccine within 30 days after their first dose is complete. This is a remote position if the candidate lives outside of a 60 mile radius of Indianapolis. If the candidate live within a 60 mile radius, the position will be hybrid.
