Job Description
An exciting career opportunity is open with Caterpillar Large Mining Truck product team (320 ton to 400-ton payload mining trucks) in Performance and Controls. As a Performance/Simulation/Application Senior Engineer, you are responsible for developing L6 machine-level simulation models that can be used for estimating truck performance and support control system development. This position will play a key role in resolving critical CPI issues faced by Ultra Class Large Mining Trucks, developing simulation and validation procedures, and improving simulation and analysis capabilities that enable Single Phase NPI deployment. It is also an opportunity to analyze machine performance in the field, validating performance, and insuring machines meet critical customer requirements. This is a great opportunity to work on one of Caterpillar’s iconic product lines with responsibility encompassing the entire machine and directly impacting critical customer expectations.
Job Duties
• Responsible for machine performance and Controls development for Ultra-Class Large Mining Truck machine platforms.
• Support the development of New Product Introduction (NPI) machine technical requirements for performance and the supporting control systems from marketing customer requirements.
• Develop full machine simulation models to predict machine performance and controls integration of machine systems and components.
• Ensure that the technical requirements are satisfied by coordinating and executing machine system and subsystem analysis and test programs.
• Participate in FMEA and Validation workshops.
• Initiating and supporting New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs that impact the products short and long-term strategies.
• Provide technical support in establishing short and long-term product strategies that meet commercial expectations.
• Coordinate resolution of performance and control development and production issues for machines at customer sites.
• Provide budget/resource estimates for expected work.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
5 years of experience in performance & controls development for either engine, power systems, or mobile equipment.
Top Candidate will also have
Master’s Degree or PhD in Engineering along with 5 years’ experience in Machine performance and controls development.
Additional information
Domestic relocation is available.
This position may require 10 % travel.
