Background and Further Information
Azure is the fastest-growing business in Microsoft's history. Customers recognize our tremendous momentum which continues month-over-month. As the foundation of Microsoft's commercial Cloud Services, Azure is the infrastructure upon which Microsoft builds its mission critical hyperscale cloud services, and it is the set of services we provide for customers building cloud services to address business requirements.
Azure continues to build the largest global footprint of any public Cloud provider. Within Azure's engineering team, there are specialized units responsible for each of the commercial industries and areas of Azure's expansion. The Azure Geo Expansion and Transformation group is focused on expanding Azure's footprint and unlocking new markets. The Americas Country Engineering team is part of this WW group. Our focus is on "going deep" with customers to understand their toughest problems and look for how Azure can solve them; and then scaling this to work for every customer across the region. We do this globally and work across the broad range of Azure technologies understanding customer scenarios, cloud patterns and adoption blockers.
The Americas Country Engineering team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to support our continued expansion of Azure in the Americas. You will partner closely with your colleagues, engineering and infrastructure teams, both locally and in Corp to enable Azure growth. Through connecting your Financial and Data Analytics experience and business acumen, you will be responsible for analyzing region performance and translating business problems into tangible insights in order to support key strategic decision making in the region.ResponsibilitiesThis role will take the lead in:
- Working with Country Engineering Leads to develop an understanding of customer adoption patterns
- Translating these business and engineering insights into quantitative measures
- Articulating the short term and long-term impact on Azure's Geo Expansion and Transformation strategy
- Using data to identify non-obvious trends or problems that impact our ability to grow adoption across all segments of customers
- Preparing and representing this viewpoint to senior stakeholders in monthly engineering reviews
The individual will be responsible for providing the business insight necessary to ensure our Azure Region strategy delights our customers and delivers the right ROI. Working across the GET organization, you'll collaborate to inform and influence our plan to ensure the optimal product/market fit.
What will it take?
We are looking for a seasoned business leader with a demonstrable track record of providing actionable insights for multibillion dollar businesses and engineering organizations. So that our region strategy is delivered 'right first time' in every country we enter.
Success in this role combines taking accountability for Azure region success, listening to and understanding customer and engineering use cases and scenarios, translating these into actionable business insights and communicating this at an executive level. Close collaboration with leaders in the Microsoft Field and delivery teams, peer teams within Microsoft Engineering and diverse customer teams is critical.
The successful candidate will have experience in large-scale financial and engineering organizations and be able to take a collaborative approach to solving business problems by spanning multiple domains. They will fit comfortably into an ambitious and challenging environment and have strong verbal and written communication skills. They will be objective, self-disciplined and possess excellent business and financial acumen, and be able to operate autonomously. A critical part of the role is the ability to conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear, effective and motivating manner.
To contribute as a key member of the team, the successful candidate must be eager to take on and lead initiatives, be an open communicator, have a commitment to excellence and possess a strong sense of personal commitment and accountability in accomplishing both customer and Microsoft goals.
This position is located in the United States with a preference in the Eastern US (Atlanta, Reston, Ft Lauderdale) area and some travel will be required (QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
5+ years in Financial and Data Analytics roles which have included:• Providing unique insights and analytics to multi-billion-dollar businesses• Translating business insights into actional requirements for engineering teams• Translate complex problems and articulate them to Senior Leaders • Excellent interpersonal and group dynamic skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Understanding of business and technology-related strategy
Differentiating Qualifications
• Finance or consultancy experience working directly in or with clients in the IT industry• Knowledge of Cloud technology• Knowledge of Data center infrastructure planning• Advanced analytical skills using tools like PowerBI
The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
