EDG Coordinator (Data Management Consultant)
Come have some fun driving our data governance program! This position will be part of the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Team coordinating data governance processes, insurance business data, and project management/organizational change management.
The EDG Coordinator will be responsible for the planning of the EDG Program and collaborating with business partners to execute data governance practices. The position will be part of a data−centric team to establish the governance program with line of business level implementations by developing and evolving the processes and federating the responsibilities of cataloging, data quality, and master data management. We are seeking an energetic, hands−on professional with strong conceptualization, solution design, and analysis skills, as well as practical experience in establishing data steward processes. This position will collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, business and data analysts, and data engineers to execute and promote data objectives across the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and administer enterprise data governance processes in line with the organization's business strategy and objectives, coordinate and execute data governance processes at the enterprise level and cascade those throughout the enterprise
- Implement and manage local information processes, including data stewardship, cataloging, data quality, and master data management, to enable lines of business
- Provide change management and rollout leadership in the federation of governance processes to business areas
- Collaborate with stakeholders and information experts across the enterprise to catalog and maintain metadata definitions and quality thresholds
- Coordinate and train data stewards across lines of business
- Manage preventative and detective controls: develop and manage cataloging processes, data quality rules, audit compliance to standards/policies
- Manage scorecards and dashboards measuring effectiveness of data governance program
- Perform additional duties as requested to achieve business objectives
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; complete all required compliance training; maintain knowledge of and adhere to CNA's internal compliance policies and procedures; keep up to date with changing regulations and policies
Job Requirements:
Data Governance
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, MIS or Business, or 5 years equilavent business experience
- 5−7 years data management experience
- Experience in P&C Insurance industry preferred
- Experience creating data governance process and procedures across multiple business units with modern environments, Cloud Data and on-prem DW environments supporting Data Governance principles and techniques
- Experience with Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) tools for Cataloging, Data Quality, SQL, Data Visualization Tools, and MDM
- Experience with reference data, master data, data modeling, data analytics, metadata, glossary and data lineage
Business and Data Analysis
- Ability to formulate a deep understanding of opportunities or challenges, translating them into actionable definitions (user stories, use cases, architecture sketches. processes, etc.) of solution concepts
- Can proactively identify and resolve issues and risks through refined or new requirement definitions and/or mitigation plans as definitions are elaborated into working solutions
- Can work under and provide structure to ambiguity, bringing others along toward achieving target outcomes
- Ability to design, document, and establish agreement on solution concepts for complex system problems using business analysis skills
- Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and implement change as needed
