eCommerce Data Engineer (Remote)
About the Role
The eCommerce Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining the data foundation of the eCommerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies. As a key member of the eCommerce Operations team, the Data Engineer collaborates with analysts and eCommerce leadership to create data models that power business intelligence and analytics across business planning, cohort analysis, paid media optimization, web analytics, trial experience, and store engagement.
They are a self-driven individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, able to quickly comprehend and adapt to emerging priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
To be successful in this role, you should have entry-level exposure to database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, have experience leveraging standard cloud-based toolsets, be comfortable using visualization tools, and be able to apply your skills to generate insights that help solve business problems.
This role has a preference to candidates located in Austin, TX but is also accepting candidates remotely (USA).
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain a data platform that serves as the foundation of the eCommerce business unit, automating and aggregating data from internal systems as well as external vendors and agencies
Design, develop and maintain a robust automated data quality and profiling pipeline providing increased visibility and alerts concerning the data foundation
Maintain and onboard new systems/vendors to enable data collection and analytics for the eCommerce business unit
Participate in reviewing the data models created by the team and change the existing data models in Production as necessary
Build data pipelines and reports that enable analysts and other stakeholders across the business unit
Educate your partners: Use your data and analytics experience to ‘see what’s missing’, identifying and addressing gaps in their existing processes
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
1-3 years of industry experience in Data Engineering, BI Engineering, Software Engineering or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
Hands-on development experience in Python or similar scripting language for automation
Effective communication, at scale, through multiple media: presentations, dashboards, company-wide datasets, bots and more
Demonstrated understanding of development processes and agile methodologies
Intellectually curious and willing to learn
Bonus Points:
Experience with Salesforce, Bizible, Marketo
Experience with Snowflake, Matillion ETL, Domo, Tableau
Experience with eCommerce, Web Analytics, Paid Media Campaigns a plus
