Guidehouse is seeking candidates with extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI with proven ability to work independently in converting business and functional requirements into complex reports, data visualizations and dashboards.This project is part of a full-stack Data Engineering delivery responsible for harnessing, cleaning, and analyzing large amounts of related data and in turn providing a DoD client intuitive and user-friendly data visualization dashboards and applications based on this data, to foster a data-driven decision-making approach. The team follows an Agile/Scrum methodology iterating rapidly in 1-2 week sprints and constantly engaging with the client for feedback, quickly transforming that feedback into formal requirements.

This individual will be the lead front-end developer responsible for creating intuitive and user-friendly data visualization dashboards and applications based on requirements derived directly from the client. This will include importing data into Power BI from various external sources (e.g., via API Web Connections), understanding relationships among datasets well enough to create a robust data model within Power BI, ability to use Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to create complex measures and calculated columns to enhance the analysis, and building the dashboards with meaningful, interactive data visuals.

The candidate should be able to quickly transform requirements/feature requests into useable front-end artifacts, while using creative freedom to suggest best visual representation. The individual is expected to plan, estimate, schedule, prioritize, and coordinate individual activities related to frontend development and maintain excellent communication with team members in order to iterate and produce at a consistent pace.

The candidate will engage with the team in daily stand-ups, providing agile updates and fielding requirements derived from the client. The candidate will be expected to discuss requirements with the Team for clarification, translating those requirements into innovative features, bug fixes, or other additions to the front-end artifact. This position requires good communication skills as the candidate will interface daily with backend developers on any data issues or anomalies which affect the frontend.


The following qualifications are REQUIRED to be considered for this role:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clarance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years relevant experience within a developer delivery supporting a data workstream
  • PL-300 (formerly DA-100) Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate certificate

The following skills/knowledge/exeperience is PREFERRED for this role
  • An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET clearance
  • Degree Preferred: Master's degree in a science, technology, math, engineering field preferred; humanities degree with equivalent technical experience acceptable
  • Experience in performing software development efforts with clear examples of value added to the client
  • Experience interacting with end-users to understand and document business and functional requirements for complex projects, as well as collaborating with technical teams across the full software development life cycle
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills in a team context to debug, troubleshoot complex software orchestrations, and/or identify solution options
  • Experience with common data science tools, such as R, Python, MATLAB; with a heavy emphasis on Python.
  • Experience in any database technology (SQL Server/Azure Cosmos DB)
  • Experience working with different query languages (i.e. PL-SQL, T-SQL)
  • Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration (i.e. Git, Jenkins, etc.)
