The Information Management & Strategy team has a cross-enterprise charter which focuses on data management activities related to Salesforce Digital Transformation, Data Management Maturity, Customer Trust, Proactive Compliance, Data Handling, and Data Governance. The team's mission is to enable the right data at the right time and with the right controls through outstanding Data Management while also ensuring data is high quality, discoverable, and accessible.

The Director/Senior Director of Data Management Solutions will serve as the Product Owner for Salesforce's Data Deletion Framework, supporting the enterprise-wide Data Deletion strategy, overall maturity, enablement of vital capabilities, and adoption/alignment to the Data Deletion Framework by internal product teams.

Responsibilities

This leader will transform how we handle and delete data at Salesforce by crafting, deploying, and driving adoption of an innovative framework that centrally monitors data deletion activities with internal and external commitments and industry processes.

  • Work closely with partners to understand current data deletion use cases, processes, and opportunities to optimize
  • Act as Product Owner, this individual will be responsible for successful deployment, maturation, and adoption of the solution
  • Define requirements to centrally monitor the detection, execution, and validation of deleted data in accordance with existing data handling processes, internal standards, customer commitments, and privacy/legal requirements (e.g., GDPR)
  • Identify people, processes, and technology required to deploy and sustain a central and scalable solution
  • Lead all aspects of development of solutions, in partnership with key partners
  • Establish, maintain, and complete product maturity and adoption roadmap for the framework to support expansion of features, capabilities, and use cases
  • Measure consistency and compliance with all pertinent enterprise data policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Cultivate productive partnerships with various technology, legal, security, and analytics/data management teams across Salesforce
  • Deliver and communicate on business values in a fast-paced, volatile environment


Competencies

  • Strong data management background that includes driving strategy, architecture, governance, compliance, tooling, and enablement
  • Demonstrable experience with data deletion, data archival, data classification, and data lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with data handling regulations (e.g., GDPR) and data classification
  • Successfully drive consensus across organizations and clearly articulate Data Deletion strategy, vision, and business value
  • Excellent business and technical communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, success at leading by influence, and excellent at building cases for investments to improve data management
  • Ability to be agile, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguous specifications
  • Effectively empower people, instill accountability and demonstrate the value of data across a wide range of individuals (engineers, data scientists, analysis, service owners, executives, customers, auditors, etc.)
  • Salesforce products knowledge a plus
  • A confirmed leader with a successful track record of leading teams across geographies and time zones.


Skills & Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in data management, risk management, compliance, Legal/Privacy, or similar field
  • Experience with concepts, processes, and technologies that support data deletion/archival/retention
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives, particularly in areas of data, compliance, or technology
  • Experience working in sophisticated and large data environments
  • Experience leading teams in a decentralized and matrixed environment, team builder who develops team, staffing strategy, and hiring plan consistent with the needs of the department
  • Interpersonal, written and verbal skills with ability to educate, inform, persuade, and achieve understanding and consensus across different functions and levels
  • Extensive experience in leading complex projects with a team-focused approach, coordinate and handle targets, and validated passion for working with data
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets


For Colorado-based roles: Minimum annual salary of $166,600 for a Director of Data-Management-Solutions-Data Deletion. You may also be entitled to receive bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
