Director, Web Analytics- REMOTE
Job Description
As the leader of Web Marketing Analytics team, you are responsible for producing insights and recommendations that help the digital and brand marketers improve overall customer experience with all our digital assets including content and web. This leader plays a critical role in analytics implementation of customer experience across our digital properties including leading the work of content, web, and tracking tagging strategies while mentoring and directing a team of analysts (Web Analytics Managers).
In addition to traditional digital analytics responsibilities such as measuring impacts of the campaigns - driven to the website; the leader will prioritize the right work through analysis, reporting/dashboarding, experimentation, and leading the tagging strategy by setting short and long term visions, articulating industry best practices and translating the vision into roadmaps and gaining buy-in across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
Leadership/Analytics:
- Take full ownership and responsibility of the program by collaborating with other stakeholders and lead the conversation in digital transformation support through data
- Drive digital transformation and exploit the cross-functional value of enterprise information assets and the analytics used to render meaningful insights for decision making.
- Be a trusted adviser and partner to business stakeholders by identifying business needs & analytic opportunities, understanding key drivers of performance, and crafting easy to understand stories.
- Direct and nurture team members on all aspects of web and digital analytics including tagging and multivariant testing, standardization of metrics, and recommendation coming from the team.
- Build tight partnerships across functional leaders i.e., Marketing, Web capability, and Digital Marketing teams to understand business objectives in order to develop appropriate measurement plan and tagging strategy that would increase customer satisfaction thus translating it to a positive return on investment (ROI) for the business

- Responsible for coaching, nurturing, and directing our Company's team to drive results and value
- Direct external partners on project expectations including evaluating quality of work, meeting deadlines and managing budgets
- Experience analytic leader who can help Marketing Leaders identify Key High-Value Actions on the website that would ultimately lead to increase in revenue and customer satisfaction
Strategy:
- Develop and implement a roadmap to implement the US market's data and analytics strategy to become a data-driven organization, partnering with other data and digital analytics members in the development of Analytics and AI solutions and also aid and collaborate in the automation of Data & Analytics products for web personalization experience.
- Identify, prioritize and execute data and analytics initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes.
- Maintain an awareness of current research and standard methodologies in the field of data analytics product management including best practices in web analytics and changes in the landscape that would impact the ability to conduct web analytics and proactively assess next steps - Stop, Continue, Optimize current strategic roadmap
Technical:
- Be the expert in Tagging Structures, Tealium, Google Analytics, CRM, Content Management Systems, and other Components of a Digital Marketing Ecosystem.
- Full understanding of web design and how those designs will impact analytics and tagging. Work collaboratively to provide recommendations and educate those who are less familiar with the digital platform and data connection.
- Create solution design, data layer requirements, and tagging specifications to implement analytics.
- Recommend and implement new analytics and optimization tools when appropriate.
- Improve analytics governance with better documentation and preventive maintenance.
Education Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Information Technology or Engineering.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 10 + years of experience in E-commerce/digital analytics
- 5+ years direct people management experience with responsibility for performance management, talent development, and coaching.
- Superior cross-team project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills using visual data storytelling
- Detail-oriented, organized, exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to perform in-depth analysis, synthesize results, develop insights, build strategies and make recommendations to business and technical leaders.
- Experience working and leading a direct report team as well as leading in a in a matrixed organization and a proven ability to lead/influence peers and sponsor change management.
- Expertise in identifying KPIs to Measure Performance and Adoption.
- Ability to Identify and Scale Best Practices throughout an Organization
- Expert-level Excel capabilities (data manipulation, formulas, modeling).
- Must feel comfortable working in a remote environment
- High digital IQ and professionalism
- Experience and understanding of at least two of the following:
- Implementing or working with clickstream analytics tools (Adobe, Google Analytics, Mix Panel, etc.)
- Data visualization tools such as Tableau.
- Digital marketing, including click attribution, impression tracking, customer journey
- Structured programming language such as SQL, Python, R, etc.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Advanced degree is a strong plus
- Google Analytics
- Certification in Tealium and/or Google Tag Manager
This position is location agnostic. Travel to the Merck site would be approximately one time a month.
