As a Director, Research & Development you will provide thought leadership and best practice approaches on analytics research and analytics product development. The Director will lead and manage a team that will perform research or development functions to create new analytical solutions or improve existing solutions such as Product Assortment Optimization, Retail Price Optimization, B2B Price Optimization, Personalized Marketing, Promo Effectiveness, Marketing Mix Optimization, and Floor Space Optimization. The Director will leverage solid knowledge in statistics, mathematics, and econometrics in day-to-day work with his team. This role is an integral part of the Research and Development Department. The Director will have 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in the B2B and retail industries and expert capabilities in statistical and econometric modeling in merchandising and marketing analytics applications. The Director will understand the business needs of a B2B or retailer client as well as the appropriate analytical approach to most analytical problems encountered by these clients. This role is a combination of being hands-on and at the same manage a group of self-driven data scientists to achieve the business objectives defined by Precima’s leadership. The Director, R&D should be knowledgeable in the statistics and/or the coding aspects of the team such that on an as-needed basis, this person can step into any of the team member’s role that he/she is managing.This role will act as an ambassador for Precima’s analytical processes to external and internal clients (Product development, Client activation, Client deployment).

What you’ll do

  • Develop advanced statistical and econometric models of pricing, assortment, and promotion/marketing. Provide analytical consulting on best practices and approaches.

  • Interpret, document, and present/communicate analytical results to multiple business disciplines, providing conclusions and recommendations based on customer-centric data. Be an internal expert in advanced capabilities. Work closely with COE teams in merchandising and marketing to develop methodology and implement analysis and technology that enables more profitable assortment, pricing, and marketing/promotion decisions in support of solutions roadmaps.

  • Take analytical objectives and define data requirements. Identify, develop and make recommendations for process improvements and best practices; own implementation of recommendations required. 

  • Lead the implementation of R&D projects according to Precima priorities. Work closely with R&D team members on projects on existing and new solutions. Work with COE teams to gather requirements on product features. Work closely with Central team members to test new solution releases and train users. Gather feedback from users on existing solutions for ideas on continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that existing solutIons are well-documented and such documentation is up-to-date with each solution release. Trains others in the areas of assortment, pricing, and promo/marketing analytics. Leads Research & Development projects in the areas of assortment, pricing, and promo/marketing analytics. Hiring and performance management.

We’re looking for people who have

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in the B2B and retail industries and expert capabilities in statistical and econometric modeling in merchandising and marketing analytics applications.

  • Master Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science – PhD preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Hierarchical Bayesian models.

  • Working knowledge of C/C++/C# and SQL.

  • Expert in developing original statistical and econometric models in pricing, assortment, promo/marketing to support clients in B2B and Retail.

In addition to the above requirements, the following would be desirable:

  • Proficiency in implementing models in using Python or R.
