Description:
The Director of Enterprise Data Stewardship will be responsible for leading the data stewardship program for Discover Financial Services and will provide support for Discover Financial Services' database systems. This role will provide feedback and support for ad hoc database projects in addition to gathering voice of the customer to effectively design and develop hardware/software systems and tools for structuring, organizing, storing, retrieving, analyzing, and reporting data.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the enterprise data stewardship program for Discover Financial Services to drive enterprise data management programs, prioritize data initiatives for key stakeholders, and influence a data driven culture.
- Gather voice of customer through the data stewardship program to help define the vision and strategy to provide effective information architecture for the enterprise.
- Provide technical functional guidance to the corporate planning and decision making process, as needed.
- Work with Data and Analytics peers and leadership overseeing development of information/data architecture for projects and teams, as needed.
- Help establish database, data administration and metadata management standards and best practices.
- Work with SME’s that handle enterprise data architecture throughout the company, and ensures that projects continue to enhance and refine the enterprise data architecture over time.
- Work with management to develop and implement various initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall organization.
- Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge in the concepts of products and techniques being used in the division such as data base, data communication, IT solution development, etc.
- Direct and motivate management and staff and ensures an environment that encourages associates to develop their professional capabilities and supports their career objectives.
- Ensure the development of a staff in the areas of system analysis, design and development, by selecting, developing, compensating, and motivating subordinates to best utilize their individual and group capabilities.
- Evaluate and recommend software enhancements to senior management, which will improve the overall productivity and quality of the corporation, as needed.
- Work with SME’s to build and maintain data systems including but not limited to Decision Support, Business Intelligence, Customer Relationship Management, Data Warehousing, Meta-data Repositories, Operational Data Stores, and Enterprise Storage Management, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years’ of experience in information technology, computer science or related experience.
