The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) is the Walt Disney Company’s center of excellence for developing and deploying innovative analytics that support decision making for client organizations across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), including Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (e.g., ABC, ESPN, FX, Studio Entertainment, Disney Theatrical Group) and Parks, Experiences & Products. To drive business value through decision-shaping analytics, DDSI leverages optimization, simulation, statistics and machine learning models to deploy new analytical capabilities via interactive, web-based applications.
The Decision Science Application Development, Delivery and Operations team within DDSI is looking for a Director, Decision Science Technology. This person will lead the development of decision science application and integration of solutions across the DDSI project portfolio. To do so, they provide oversight for a highly skilled team of experts across multiple technical domains (e.g., data engineers, full stack application developer, UX design), in order to design, develop and sustain solutions that advance decision-making capabilities across TWDC. DDSI solutions support business units across TWDC in business domains including sales, revenue management, pricing, personalization, forecasting, marketing, and beyond.
This leader is responsible for development, delivery and sustainment of technical solutions across the project portfolio (e.g., tech refreshes, operational monitoring, quality assurance, security). In addition to being accountable for the development and delivery of complete solutions that are cloud-native, they also ensure solutions are reliable, consistent, accessible, secure and timely to support the business. Given this, they will seek out tools and processes to support the technical teams creating science-driven applications. The incumbent is also responsible for advancing the strategy for architecture, infrastructure, and data assets.
To be successful, collaboration with partnering DDSI executives, segment-specific technology leadership, project managers, client leaders, and technical subject matter experts in a matrixed environment is necessary. This leader will champion a relentless pursuit toward our own operational excellence, as well as innovation via data-driven business capabilities.
Responsibilities :

• Ability to lead a team of highly-skilled, technical leaders and subject matter experts who design and deliver data- and science-driven applications and decision support tools to support business units across TWDC
• Inspire team to achieve a vision and nurture trust and inclusivity in a quickly changing, collaborative climate
• Direct the design and development of advanced data and compute capabilities, leveraging open source and cloud-based toolsets (e.g., AWS, Docker, python, ReactJS, etc.)
• Exhibit critical strategic thinking and creative problem solving in order to scope work, shape deliverables, set priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate results
• Support team as a creative and inquisitive thinker who is enthusiastic about seeking out and employing new technologies and processes, and being responsive to client needs
• Expertise in strategic planning and execution of technology delivery throughout the system development and implementation lifecycle
• Lead directly and via collaboration in a matrixed environment with emphasis on strong communication, interpersonal collaboration and change management skills
• Lead organizational initiatives to propose, monitor and maintain existing data collections, identify new and emerging internal/external data sources, data models and architectures and ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure and timely
• Champion development of standard operating procedures and data quality standards, considering privacy, security and ethical dimensions in play
• Connect business partners, clients and team with processes improvements and the adoption of the latest business, science and technology standards and best practices (e.g., cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, scalable and sustainable design practices)
• Ability to operate at all levels of the organization, including tactical project leadership, strategic planning, and business-focused consulting with clients and executives
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with ability collaborate effectively with colleagues ranging from entry-level professionals to high-level executives
• 10+ years relevant experience in application development and/or data engineering

Basic Qualifications :

• Expertise in software development and sustainment oversight
• Expertise with software development tools, cloud architecture and data engineering tools and methods, (e.g., Snowflake, ReactJS, Python, SQL, CI/CD, Docker, cloud computing concepts including auto-scaling, AWS infrastructure & services)
• A minimum of 10 years of experience with technology delivery and sustainment

Preferred Qualifications:

• ITIL certification(s)

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Education :
Master’s degree in technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science) or MBA
