Job Description
Position Overview:
Discover Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) has a desire to move boldly towards digitizing and automating how we work. The Director of Business Intelligence and Data Science will report to the VP of Finance Data Science and will be key in achieving this ambitious goal.
This seasoned Director will lead a team of Business Intelligence and Data Science professionals that will develop next generation reporting, planning and analytical capabilities; ultimately transforming the way we work within Finance and Corporate Services (FCS). This journey requires automating and visualizing our management reporting and streamlining the way we analyze and interpret data leveraging Python, Tableau and other advanced analytics techniques.
A successful candidate is a visionary leader who will drive change and influence the team to think strategically about how they can leverage technology to improve processes. The leader will create a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Define the vision and roadmap for leveraging technology to transform and automate financial planning, data analysis, and management reporting activities within FCS
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their automation goals, provide thought leadership to design solutions, and lead cross functional teams to deliver projects
- Lead the design of data architecture to execute business intelligence solutions and work closely with Business Technology teams to ensure the implementation of an efficient data management process
- Design Tableau dashboards that are both intuitive and visually appealing; optimize data visualization to provide reliable insights with superb user experience
- Continuously monitor BI trends and tools to deliver modern and simple solutions to business partners; progressing data availability and improving analytics that are used by leaders in the decision-making process
- Study a vast array of Discover financial and customer data (e.g., sales, payments, delinquent, and transaction level data) and apply advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques (e.g., decision tree, clustering, CHAID, unsupervised machine learning, etc.) to gain actionable insights
- Build, train, and manage a team of data scientists in applying statistical and machine learning techniques to create insightful and user-friendly BI solutions
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or related field
- 12+ years of experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Modeling, Tableau
- 8+ years leading Data Analytics teams
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we'd also look for:
- Master's degree in Statistics or Engineering
- 4+ years Tableau experience
