We are looking for a dynamic Development Scientist II to join our team! The ideal candidate will perform various clinical laboratory tests to obtain data, following established standards, practices and procedures and exercising independent/correlated judgment. Additionally you will perform quality controls, and keep accurate records.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts chemical analyses, and hematology of body fluids, using microscope or automatic analyzer. Performs proficiency testing, and assists with laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Sets up, adjusts, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment.
  • Analyzes the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices
  • Maintains inventory/supplies necessary for testing purposes. Organizes test data.
  • Ensure all laboratory work is documented in compliance with company policies and regulatory bodies. Properly maintains laboratory notebooks/log books; review, sign and date technologists notebooks.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area to ensure the safety of yourself and co-workers.
  • Shows professional interest through self-development, continuing education, and involvement in professional organizations; presents a positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Evaluates data generated and prepare /present to group
  • Understands Danaher Business System tools and applies to day-to-day work.
  • Ensures compliance to organizational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the biological sciences, microbiology, immunology, chemistry or medical technology. Advanced degree preferred.
  • MT or CLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification/license - highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of General Clinical Laboratory experience having a combination of clinical laboratory and either clinical research laboratory or in-vitro diagnostic / biotechnology / Pharmacology (FDA regulated) laboratory experience, or MS degree in a scientific discipline with 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Prior R&D and/or clinical experience in urinalysis, hematology, immunoassay, clinical chemistry, or flow cytometry a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in CAP inspections a plus.
  • An ability and willingness to apply knowledge and skills and maintain clinical competency as to implement lab services as demonstrated through practices, performing complex laboratory procedures and quality control across the major areas of the laboratory, recognizing abnormal and inadequate results and utilizing background in technical methodology and theory to independently perform, interpret and report test analyses as required.
  • Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively with others; ability to react and perform under stress in emergency situations; ability to plan and organize work for self and others; ability to exercise analytical judgment on work to be done and meet job demands.
  • Experience with urinalysis or Hematology. Knowledge and experience in CAP inspections.
  • Must possess mathematical, instrumentation, interpersonal, communication, documentation, organizational, and project planning skills.
  • Ability to perform in both a team environment and as an individual.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge and experience withGood Laboratory Practices (GLP).Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
  • Must be proficient in all MS Office programs.
  • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, siting and reaching to perform tests and operate equipment;
  • Wrist and digital dexterity to perform lab tests and data entry.
  • Concentration and attention to detail are necessary to detect changes in specimen and perform required tests.
  • Ability to recognize color changes during experiments and studies.
  • For certain light-sensitive procedures, working for extended periods under low-level lighting conditions.
  • General clinical laboratory environment/General analytical/clinical chemistry laboratory environment. Exposure to infectious agents.
    • Work with human blood samples
    • Work with human body fluids such as CSF, joint fluids, serous fluids.
    • Work with microbiological samples.
  • Must be able to lift containers weighing up to 25 pounds.
