Job Posting

Purpose of the Job: The Db2 DBA designs, develops, and maintains complex database systems. Maintain a reliable, accessible, and secure production database environment. The incumbent exercises a wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.

Essential Functions:
• Participates in rotating, on-call after-hours support.• Assists with the installation, maintenance, and administration of database-related software utilities and tools.• Maintains multitier database environments, including object migrations between those tiers.• Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to the database environment.• Translates large, complex logical data models into physical schema definitions effectively and efficiently. This includes all duties involved from conceptual design through production implementation.• Assures that all production mainframe jobs used to back up, recover, and reorganize corporate databases run efficiently, and are completed successfully. Incumbent is also expected to conduct periodic reviews of this environment and make recommendations for improvement where applicable.• Consults with development staff to assure that database and application design alternatives are consistent with overall systems integration strategies.• Assures that database backup and recovery techniques are adequate to protect corporate data resources. Takes a proactive role in the achievement of this accountability.• Conducts daily analysis of database and system parameters to assure that established, service level objectives are met or exceeded.• Conducts research and development in emerging software technologies related to the administration of data bases as well as software that have the potential to improve database development productivity.• Assists Application Development division personnel in establishing and maintaining an effective test database environment.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.• Seven years of experience in data processing, to include three years of experience directly related to Db2 for z/OS database administration responsibilities• Proficiency in both written and oral communications skills• Working knowledge of internal control structures that affects the overall viability of the system and a thorough understanding of database backup, logging, and recovery methods

• Possesses a thorough understanding of data analysis, modeling and database design methods and techniques.• Knowledge of hierarchical and relational database management systems including a working knowledge of internal control structures that affects the overall viability of the system.• Experience with system and database-related change and monitoring tools such as BMC's Catalog Manager, Change Manager, Apptune, and MainView• Experience with IBM Db2 for LUW• Experience in coding/scripting with COBOL, REXX, CLIST, ISPF, TSO, and Linux Bash

Salary for this position can range from $91,765 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $137,648 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education.
