DB2 Database Administrator
The Database Administration team ensures plant stability across all DB platforms / business units and provides consultation to application development groups. While the team?s core responsibilities are to maintain day-to-day support of MS? critical database plant, the team also provides engineering support to regularly improve and enhance the functionality of DB platforms.
We are looking for a DB2 Database Administrator for container-level operational support across Morgan Stanley?s distributed database platforms. This position will allow you to explore all aspects of the Teradata database such as Performance monitoring, change implementation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, privilege maintenance, user maintenance, new database setup, troubleshooting DBQL and PDCR issues, educating users, troubleshooting user issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure plant stability across all DB platform
Provide consultation to application development group
Maintain day to day support of MS? critical database plant,
Provide engineering support to regularly improve and enhance the functionality of DB platform
Provide 24x7 firm-wide support for distributed databases including occasional weekend on-call
Qualifications:
Skills Required:
- Proficient in one of the following relational database technology: DB2
- Minimum of 5 years experience supporting multi-server enterprise environment
- Experience with alternative database systems considered if in an enterprise context
- Solid understanding of operating systems (Linux or Windows)
- Strong SQL language skill
- Strong scripting knowledge, particularly KSH, Perl, or PowerShell
- Experience in large enterprise technology environment
- Effective written & verbal communication skills: ability to clearly and concisely communicate with local and remote technical teams and peers.
- Experience in a support environment dealing with clients in various business division
Skills Desired:
- Intermediate to advanced Perl/Shell coding development
- Advanced Sybase or DB2 Optimizer Troubleshooting
