Database Analyst Advisor

Our work depends on a Database Analyst Advisor joining our team to support the Alabama Supercomputer Authority's activities in Huntsville, AL.
At GDIT, our people are at the center of everything we do. As a Database Analyst Advisor supporting the Alabama Supercomputer Authority, you will be trusted to work on new and existing transactional databases and analytical data warehouses, using Microsoft SQL, MySQL, SSMS, and other data and business intelligence tools. You will be empowered to design and expand data structures, write and modify complex queries, and develop Extract Transform Load (ETL) functionality while working alongside an amazing, agile team supporting education and workforce development within the state of Alabama. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Collaborating with the Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) and various Alabama state agencies supporting education and workforce development to build data collection, storage, and reporting infrastructure to provide them with the data and business intelligence they need to make important decisions that impact the world around us
- Write SQL code for a variety of projects
- Perform database and data warehouse design
- Work with our full stack development team to integrate databases and data warehouses with applications and technologies
- Assist with requirements gathering and coming up with solutions to address client challenges
- Participate in peer reviews of database and warehouse designs and database code you and others are writing
- Your success will be measured through the completion of Scrum stories, client satisfaction in the solutions we are delivering, the quality of your development work, and how you own and practice GDIT's values
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of work experience
- 8+ years of database experience
- Experience with SQL or similar database language
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience with transactional database design
- Experience with data warehouse design
- Experience with database modeling
- Experience with Code First database design or similar database repository framework
- Experience writing Stored Procedures
- Experience with database security
- Experience with data warehousing tools and techniques (star-schema, ETL, analytical cube, etc.)
- Experience with data matching individual records to create master person records
- Experience with data mining and visualization tools
- Experience with code reviews
- Experience with source control
- Experience with Agile development, such as Scrum
