Database Administrator/Snowflake - Mid level
Purpose of Job
We are seeking a talented Senior level DBA candidate ideally with Snowflake experience. This position can be worked 100% remotely.
Summary
Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining and supporting infrastructure and individual and integrated system components and solutions that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and controlled.

Job Requirements
Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled
Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities
Under limited supervision, designs scalable IT system infrastructure, implements system changes with consistency and autonomy, and automates service delivery and maintenance tasks; builds monitoring and tooling for systems
Independently, resolves complex technology production issues by troubleshooting IT systems.
Identifies opportunities for improvements and makes recommendations to management
Analyzes complex outages and identifies opportunities for system improvements
Understands and consistently exercises engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
Understands the customer and identifies solutions and ideas for the customer with some assistance
Evaluates potential Technology solutions with some oversight
Mentors' junior engineers and may being mentoring peer engineer
Develop software defined infrastructure in code in CI/CD Pipelines
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience in addition to the minimum years of experience required may be substituted in lieu of degree.
OR Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvenize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT)
- 4+ years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s) or applicable IT experience such as IT Management, Software Development, Data Engineering, and Agile Product/Release Management
- 2+ years of experience in creating, modifying, and maintaining infrastructure and individual system components
- Proficient level of business acumen in the areas of business operations, risk management, industry practices and emerging trends.
- Knowledge and understanding of designing scalable IT system infrastructures, implementing system changes, or automating service delivery and maintenance tasks
Preferred Education/Experience:
- 4+ years of enterprise level experience on any RDBMS, i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 (Linux), Netezza (or Teradata)
- 1+ years of working experience in Snowflake
- Hands-on experience with migrations, database design, Snowflake features, RBAC, warehouse optimization, integration of on-prem and cloud tools with Snowflake, clustering, data sharing, multi-region/multi-cloud, authentications, data marketplace, managing multiple Snowflake accounts, query optimizations, creating automations for Snowflake processes
- Experience in data analytics, cloud experience, advanced SQL, high-availability, disaster recovery, Linux scripting, CI/CD, Git, DB security basics, Service Now or other ticketing system, production support experience (level 1 support over weekends/weeknights might sometimes be needed)
- 1+ years of experience with either Java, Python, Puppet, Agile or Jira
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $88,200 - $158,900* (this does not include geographic differential, it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
