Senior Database Administrator is the technical role toward database administration. Performing client / server and web based systems support. Provide support for mission critical databases and application. Function within the department as a key member developing operational support models and documentation. Provide information on long term technology solutions to meet the company's information need as well as maintain database reliability and service level standards. Perform activities related to the analysis and implementation of corporate databases. Establish and utilize effective policies and procedures for the definition, management, protection, and efficient utilization of systems, data and databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support for current solutions, new products and changes to existing solutions in order to continuously improve the reliability and availability of the Business Applications
  • SQL script deployments, ensure code safety before deployments, Self-starter
  • Responsible for the support of our internal and third party products related to core MS SQL Server architecture (2016/2019), MySQL Percona on-premise/AWS EC2 instances, and AWS Redshift/PostgreSQL with Backups, restores, security administration, performance, tuning
  • Provide 24×7 on-call, Keep Production, DR and Developments infrastructure in sync, Backups, Restores and Security Administration.
  • Patch internal databases, applications, and third party tools including SolarWinds DPA and AppDynamics
  • Monitor current architecture continuously, good at following directions with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of SSIS/SSRS deployments, knowledge of TFS/Jira/GitHub for code deployments
  • SQL job management system and maintenance, SQL Server installations, DB tuning and security
  • Working with other technical operations team members (developers, project managers, architects, system engineers) to ensure smooth operations of development, test and production environment
  • Perform database troubleshooting with the vendor and ongoing configuration management
  • Participate in the research and recommendation of new software and/or versions of current software
  • Recommend improvements to architecture management processes and procedures
  • Evaluate and benchmark new infrastructure components, hardware and software, by rating the areas of component functionality, capacity, system compatibility, efficiency and security
  • Performance turning and troubleshooting database performance; query optimization; creation and scripting of databases and database objects.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be a mentor to developers and DBA team members on subjects pertaining to database development activities.
  • Participate in software development whenever needed.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot databases to optimize database performance, resource use and perform daily check of all the SWL related processes.


Requirements
Education:
BS Computer Science, Information System or IT related field
Type of experience:

  • 7+ years hands-on experience administering MS SQL, 5+ MySQl and PostgreSQL/Redshift
  • High expertise on Performance, capacity planning, tuning and troubleshooting is a must.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Experience working in DevOps environment


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Best practices implementing, maintaining, monitoring and tuning SQL, MySQL and ProsgreSQL/Redshift, DynamoDBr Databases and related applications.
  • Database backup and recovery / disaster recover planning and testing.
  • Plan, monitor, manage the use of database space and troubleshooting.
  • High Availability experience (Cluster, Always On, Log Shipping) is a Must
  • Excellent execution and understanding of project management principles, ensure compliance with all supporting change control and problem policies and procedures.
