The Commercial Tech Database Administration and Excellence team is a highly collaborative and passionate group. We love solving hard problems that have an impact for our customers and partners and building reusable solutions. We are seeking Database Administrators who can operate with our Commercial Tech engineering teams towards building ground breaking capabilities and transformative customer experiences.
We are seeking a hands-on Database Administrator who can design, code, and provide architecture solutions for the team, including but not limited to database design, data modeling, and data integration using cutting edge technologies, including open source tools on public cloud platforms. The right candidate for this role is someone who is passionate about technology and interacting with product owners and technical stakeholders. The Database Administrator in this role is someone who thrives when the stakes are high, is hyper-focused on delivering exceptional results, and likes to collaborate as a team. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with fellow technologists beyond their team and influence technology partners across the enterprise.
The Job and Expectations:
- Development - Design and build database and data engineering solutions to serve needs across the Commercial Tech organization.
- Management - Install, configure, monitor, and manage databases like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL in multiple data center and / or multiple region setups.
- Modeling - Apply your expertise to help model structured and unstructured data with emphasis on Relational Data Models and usage of user-defined types. Own these models at a high level, and consult with feature teams to help them model applications.
- Integration - Plan and build data integrations between systems. Figure out the best way to share information and build the technology needed to execute.
- Performance Tuning - Build highly performant RDBMS solutions and help troubleshoot problem areas for unmatched performance and reliability.
- Stewardship - Own or support the data definitions and lineage across our organization. Define systems of record and catalog operational and nonoperational data stores. Consult with features teams on how to get them the data they need.
- Pipelining - Engineer reusable capabilities and pipelines for DML, DDL, maintenance, and ETL needs that can be shared across teams.
- Operations - Manage database operations, accessibility tools, security, and develop and manage solutions for observability and monitoring.
- Mentoring - Help teach other team members about data architecture, and also be a consultant for developers who need help with data.
- Learning - Stay current on technical knowledge and tooling to help the team utilize new technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years of experience with relational database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL)
- At least 3 years of experience in system analysis and data management
- At least 3 years of experience managing Windows Server platforms
- At least 1 year of public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- At least 1 year of experience using Git version control and Jenkins
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- 3+ years of experience with Python, Bash, or Java
- 1+ year of experience with NoSQL database technologies (Mongo, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or DocumentDB)
- Certification in RDBMS or NoSQL Databases
- AWS Certification
