Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Grow and empower Northwestern Mutual's Data Visualization and Analytical Solution Design Center of Excellence community!
Leads innovation for enterprise data visualization and analytical solution design best practice standards, drives adoption for quicker insights and business stakeholder action.
Dynamic person will execute strategy for bringing analytics catalog, report governance and analytics workflow automation
A critical enterprise role to enable decision making by improving adoption of existing analytical solutions or creating intuitive, new solutions
Strong leadership skills, collaborative work, fluency using statistics and visualizations to answer specific questions about datasets and a passion for creating informative visualizations and presentations to communicate results to all levels of the company
Ability to lead workshops to develop user stories, wireframes & develop intuitive visualizations while placing the user in the center of decision making
Identifies & defines key business metrics & KPI's in partnership with business stakeholders
Brings new perspectives, creative problem solving, and inter-departmental connections to improve enterprise analytical capabilities
Actively promotes learning, curiosity and develops novice and experienced data visualization talent
Access, gather and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into complex business problems, decisions, and performance. Creates and produces analytical solution to tell a story through data
Continues to advance the data visualization practice through reviewing external resources and marketplace as well as keeping a pulse on new technology offerings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree computer science, MIS, math, statistics, business or related field required. Master's degree in data visualization preferred.
  • Strong leadership or management experience is key, plus 7+ years of relevant experience with considerable analytical skills and ability to innovate data visualization best practices to enable business decisions/outcomes.
  • Strong-problem solver with an ability to inspire informal and formal reporting relationships and work as individual contributor!
  • Expertise in development and analytical tools such as SAS, SQL, MS Excel, etc
  • Expert user of data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau and technologies such as Zen Optics.
