The Opportunity

Ally Financial is seeking a Data Security Analyst position to help design, build, and support Database Security program. You will work with a team of security engineers & analysts within the IPRM Department to deploy, sustain and monitor DB activity monitoring controls and tools to meet specific security requirements, and defines processes and standards to ensure that security configurations and tools are maintained. You will be responsible for protecting sensitive data and assets by monitoring data in motion, in use and at rest. You will manage relationships with stakeholders, both within and outside IPRM, to deliver on the common goal of protecting sensitive Data in Ally

The Work Itself

  • Primary responsibility will be direct support of Imperva SecureSphere Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) and Database Access Firewall (DAF) policies for Database firewall project with potential to take on responsibilities for other technologies such as Data Classification/Masking and Encryption
  • Manage and monitor DAM/DAF devices across the enterprise.
  • Manage the day-to-day governance of the enterprise the DAM systems and other security controls. This includes configuration tuning, and policy management as well as defining and executing escalation criteria.
  • Work with Security teams to tune control systems to best meet the need of the business.
  • Troubleshoot network issues related to blocked traffic in the database network.
  • Support Imperva tool administrative duties like system health check, patching and upgrades, Access Management, BAU task monitoring
  • Support Imperva configuration, rules, and policies across the enterprise
  • Support for Security incident response, database security controls with enterprise CSIRT & SOC teams
  • Develop data protection and database firewall control recommendations for use by Information Protection and Risk Management, line of business personnel, and various risk councils within client
  • Support Database Security Program reporting using Power BI & Splunk and other sensitive data remediation activities
  • Analyze data and present data through reports that aid decision-making
  • Using your creativity and curiosity to partner with associates in other business areas to define business needs and help translate those needs into reporting system requirements
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in information security and Database Security Management
  • Ensure the program is aligned with and delivers against the regulations and expectations of FFIEC guidelines

The Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years of data security and database experience
  • 1+ years of experience in the development of BI dashboards using PowerBI, Tableau
  • Imperva SecureSphere experience is preferred but similar competitors such as IBM Guardium are acceptable
  • Ability to document security governance processes and procedures in team run book
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels across the organization and to comprehend business imperatives.
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL, SAS, R and Python
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server, Oracle, and NoSQL databases
  • Understanding of Amazon Web Serves (AWS) and Azure and use of AWS security tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Ability to think strategically, use sound judgement, and balance short and long- term risk decisions. Comfortable with appropriate challenge and escalation.
  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, and capable of working independently
  • Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities, and follow through on commitments
  • One or more of these certifications strongly preferred: CISM, CISSP, CEH, CRISC, CompTIA Security+, AWS/Azure Security
  • Knowledge of Compliance aspects of PCI, SOX, GLBA, NYDFS, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other relevant laws and regulations
  • Ability to interact with a variety of internal and external people in a professional manner that creates confidence in his/her knowledge and abilities and helps foster mutually satisfactory resolution to risk gaps and issues
  • Ability to effectively consult on IT/Information Security risks and issues and manage multiple priorities efficiently while demonstrating excellent time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, and capable of working independently.
