About the Role

The data scientist leads advanced analytics projects across multiple clients. You will oversee data acquisition, data cleansing, modeling, strategy, reporting/insights at a high-level and support analysts as needed. You will manipulate large datasets, developing and building analytical tools and models, and creating and presenting challenging research materials to audiences of all levels and backgrounds, both internally and externally. You will design and build models and analyses that drive smart insights and at times will work across all partners on integrated mission-based communication teams, including advertising and creative agencies, media buying entities, and niche communications firms. While the work will be primarily on a national telecommunications provider, this position is expected to contribute to a multitude of diverse clients, through standardized modeling approaches, thought leadership, data science advocacy, and mentoring

What your success will look like
  • Contribute to client's direction and strategy by influencing decision-making based on information gained from modeling, deep-dive and ad hoc analysis
  • Assist with implementation of client's data strategy
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of marketing strategies
  • Lead adoption of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
  • Lead data analysis and data science projects and follow best practices
  • Provide thought leadership for the development and adoption of data science projects for internal and external teams
  • Align with strategy and channel teams on marketing plans while developing both insightful and actionable models and data visualizations to internal and client teams
  • Assist with visualization and data science tool recommendations
  • Maintain data security best practices for all internal and external data
  • Build tools and processes to automate data collection
  • Assist with scoping and manage allocation of work across team members
  • Review project work output and provide feedback while providing mentorship to analysts

Who you are what you bring
  • 3+ or more years of experience working in marketing analytics
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
  • Experience working independently, self-managing, and managing others on projects to deliver results supporting multiple clients and stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with web analytics platform(s) (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Experience extracting and analyzing data from paid media platforms (DoubleClick, Facebook Ads, etc.)
  • Understanding of media and brand metrics and measurement
