The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. As a Data Scientist, you will leverage your quantitative analysis, data reporting, modeling and/or data visualization skills as an individual contributor to project teams tasked with solving business problems. This position is a part of the Caterpillar Service Parts Packaging team, and will use quantitative methods such as busines impact simulations, data mining, and advanced visualization techniques to effectively communicate opportunities and solve problems.
Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Ad-hoc data analysis, data processing, and data visualization
- Analytics-based research supporting project teams
- Improvement of existing and development of new data mining techniques
- Developing/refining large-scale solutions to fit complex situations in multiple unique environments
- Subject matter expert in Packaging system functionality
- Effective communication of complex concepts and solutions to stakeholders & internal customers
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or equivalent degree
OR
- 8+ years of experience in full time SAS reporting and data analysis role
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- 5+ years of professional experience utilizing quantitative analysis
- Working knowledge of Cat Service Parts reporting platforms and data sources
- Knowledge of basic statistical approaches and/or data management techniques
- Demonstrated experience working in MS Office and industry standard statistics and data visualization packages
- Exhibited the ability to work on increasingly more complex assignments
- Experience with SPM system and functionality
- Experience with analytical tools like SAS, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, or Excel
