Job Description:
At Caterpillar's Mossville facility, we improve Caterpillar products through the use of telematics data. In this role as a Data Scientist, you will report to the Electronic Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for supporting product engineering teams throughout Caterpillar through the remote collection and analysis of engineering data from Caterpillar products. The section includes both the SuperComm2 Command Center team - our Internet of Things (IOT) data acquisition team - and the Engineering Intelligence team - our custom analytics team. As a member of the Engineering Data Acquisition and Analytics team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can't wait for you to join the team!
What you will do:

• Support the development and maintenance of the SuperComm2 Command Center applications
• Support the development and maintenance of Engineering Intelligence analytics tools and applications
• Support the development and maintenance of NPI Data Hub and On-Demand Tools applications
• Develop new data analytics tools for engineers

What you will have:

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 3 years of experience, or an advanced degree plus at least 2 years of experience
• Experience in Python and/or SQL coding
• Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group

Top Candidates will also have:

• Experience with Git or similar version control software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with SuperComm2 (SC2) data
• Experience with databases such as Oracle, Snowflake, and MySQL

The primary location for this position is Mossville, IL
