We are looking for a data scientist to support patient experience improvement efforts through predictive modeling approaches. This role is within Medicare and Retirement Government Quality Programs. This position will provide valuable support of existing predictive models that identify high risk populations and opportunities around critical aspects of patient's health experience, including communication with their doctors, coordination of their healthcare needs, getting care quickly, getting needed prescription drugs and helpful customer service.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of innovative machine learning solutions to solve complex problems
  • Source, clean and perform exploratory data analysis to verify data integrity and provide input to assist with model development
  • Identify new data sources and provide recommendations on added value
  • Build and maintain analytical datasets for both exploratory and predictive modeling
  • Support business needs around analytics, predictive modeling, and business intelligence
  • Communicate findings, verbally and visually, to business stakeholders
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience with SAS, R, Python, SQL or preferred programming language
  • 3+ years of experience manipulating data across multiple platforms


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and applying predictive models in a business setting

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $71,400 to $127,400. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
