The Role

We are looking for a Data Science Manager to help Circulo in its mission to improve the health of the most underserved populations in our country. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll be the tip of the spear of Circulo’s culture of experimentation. You’ll design and lead the implementation of systems to continuously evaluate the impact of everything from new app features to intervention programs designed to improve patient health. You’ll lead a team of data scientists in the deployment of ML-driven data products that integrate with our software solutions to impact the lives of our members in meaningful ways, and enable delightful, seamless experiences for our providers.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with program and product managers to refine Circulo’s analytics agenda and prioritize achievable analytics & AI/ML projects with high return on investment
• Design, build, and deploy data products that meet key business needs, using statistics, machine learning, and other analytical methods
• Guide, direct, mentor, and work alongside other data scientists, machine learning engineers, and clinical data analysts to deliver analytical solutions that inform Circulo strategies
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate requirements into concrete analytical project plans

Who we are looking for:

• You have 8+ years of experience in analytics and AI/ML.
• You have demonstrated experience as a servant-leader with either matrixed or direct people management responsibility.
• You are proficient in Python and SQL and/or familiar with statistical programming languages such as R; experience building ML models in Spark (SparkML or MLLib) is a plus.
• You possess significant expertise in hypothesis testing and designing complex experiments to estimate marginal effects.
• You have practical experience implementing techniques to estimate causal effects, including ML-based causal inference methods.
• You are able to lead the development and deployment of machine learning models end to end, including data gathering, feature engineering, model architecture selection, model validation and monitoring, and deployment to production.
• You have applied experience implementing techniques to enhance AI/ML interpretability and detect model bias.
• You are able to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment, while managing multiple priorities.
• You have experience working with internal and external partners and stakeholders, and an ability to maintain collaborative relationships on shared objectives.
• You have strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
