The Technology Reference Data team is seeking a Data Platform Engineer for our data lake house platform, which ingests, curates and makes available to our consumers all types of technology data, including events, logs, metrics, alerts, reference and synthetic data generated by our on and off premises infrastructure. Through careful data curation and various analytics and business intelligence facilities, this data platform provides insights into various operational metrics, issues, controls/compliance, and improvement opportunities, as well as supplying highly curated data to power our ML/AI operations.
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in implementing features that will enable new capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and most importantly, improve our data platforms' user experience. The position is ideal for an individual with a strong software engineering background and experienced in developing web services, who has worked with large amounts of data, can embrace modern engineering practices, and is interested in gaining hands-on experience building-out and managing a high volume data-science platform (i.e. hands-on ML-Ops). You will also closely collaborate with our internal partners in helping them build intelligent data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities:

  • Implement new platform features and data services
  • Help internal customers leverage our data platform to build AI-Ops solutions
  • Design and extend SDK's and tooling to improve our ML-Ops practices
  • Help optimize and fine tuning scalable performant data pipelines
  • Assist in deployment and productionization of machine learning applications in production
  • Contribute to the growth of the team and continuous learning


Required Skills:

  • Strong Java development experience. Python and other programming language are plus
  • Modern version control (git, github, bitbucket)
  • Some devops--continuous integration/development (e.g. GIT, Jenkins, Maven)
  • Strong understanding of web technologies and microservices
  • Publisher/Subscriber and Messaging services (Kafka) is a plus
  • Big Data & NOSQL Technologies - Hadoop/Cloudera/HortonWorks, Hbase, Cassandra, Elastic
  • High Performance Compute using Spark or Dask
  • Big Data querying tools (such as Athena, Google Bigtable, Presto)
  • Comfortable working in Unix shell environment.
  • Job Scheduling tools like Autosys/CTRL-M or Airflow is a big plus
  • Containerization with Kubernetes/Docker
  • AWS cloud platform/services is a plus


This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree and 7-8 years in software engineering or related experience
  • Agile practice including story refinement, sprint execution, demos and retrospectives
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
