As a new Lilly employee, you will join our 2-year Technical Pathway program which provides you with mentoring, introductory technical skills, transferable leadership skills, applied opportunities, and customer experiences. This program is the first step in our People Empowerment Program for Information Technology program, which exists to engage, energize, and encourage all Information and Digital Solutions employees. Through these programs, you will establish relationships outside of your current business area that will help you deliver in your current role and explore future opportunities.

Responsibility Statement

We seek a motivated apprentice who is willing to become a part of Lilly's data community. As a member of this growing and thriving community, the Data Operations apprentice will develop the skills and competencies to aid in helping our data stewards inventory and curate data while learning new technical skills in ingestion, annotation, integration, storage, security & access, and data integrity.

The public and private data that you will work spans all business functions of the enterprise, including research, development, manufacturing, and others. This data enables our business leaders to discover, study, and produce novel medicines for diseases including diabetes and cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and become proficient in various stages of the data development cycle. You will be providing support to teams in delivering quality data that meets guidelines for secure access and GxP regulations while learning different data/software engineering tools and techniques e.g. AWS, TriFacta, Informatica.
  • Manage and execute a range of technical processes including ingestion, inventory, annotation, integration, and storage using our award-winning technical infrastructure including the Enterprise Data Backbone, Analytics Workbench, Information Catalog, and Marketplace.
  • Ensure data is delivered with full understanding and adherence to all applicable quality, privacy and information security policies.
  • Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Identify and manage enterprise-level data products that will be used as shared information for key business initiatives, including finding and learning about new resources and vetting their applicability to the task at hand.
  • Learn and understand the data landscape and processes for a domain of data



Basic Qualifications

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of related or professional experience. Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • Degree or experience within computer science or information systems
  • Interest in programming and data engineering
  • Experience, knowledge, and desire to work in Pharma
  • Basic understanding of cloud
  • Effective interpersonal and networking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong organizing/multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
  • Learning agility and self-management skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
