About The Role: 

Data Operations is responsible for the core of what we do as a company: delivering high quality data on the private markets to thousands of discerning customers. In this role you will join our secondary research team and be responsible for owning and managing the Venture Capital research processes. You will be accountable for the daily operations and execution of a global team of 80+ data operations associates. You will focus on ensuring our data collection processes are complete, accurate, timely and operating as efficiently as possible. Our Venture Capital dataset is one of our key core offerings and holds the highest visibility to our clients both externally and internally and requires extreme ownership and dedication to manage.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Quickly ramping up on our existing datasets and processes in order to quickly take on full ownership of the Venture Capital dataset, acting as the face of the datasets under your purview
  • Becoming an expert in PitchBook’s core research areas of private equity, venture capital and M&A through dedicated training and intellectual curiosity
  • Managing cross team projects and initiatives, with an emphasis on dataset completeness and quality improvements
  • Originating and leading projects to identify opportunities to improve upon the core quality metrics (comprehensiveness, accuracy, timeliness, efficiency)
  • Seeking out opportunities to improve our data collection processes, methodologies and tools
  • Utilizing business intelligence reporting tools to identify root causes of systemic data problems; drive operational, methodology, and database improvements
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation of relevant research processes, training materials, methodologies and RTS database tool changes
  • Working closely with and collaborating with teams across various geographic offices
  • Providing training and ramping support to new members of the team, both on-shore and off-shore
  • Participating in recruiting and hiring efforts, including phone screens and on-site interviews
  • Actively managing, prioritizing, and optimizing workflow daily
  • Driving cross team collaboration across product, sales, CS, editorial and other PitchBook departments
  • Tracking, measuring, and reporting success, progress, and roadblocks to research leadership and other stakeholders
  • Supporting the vision and values of the company by setting an example and demonstrating desired behaviors

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, comfortable in making judgement calls within ambiguous research situations
  • Strong desire to be constantly finding ways to increase efficiency and drive improvements
  • Own the belief that anything below excellent isn’t good enough and expects the same from those on your team
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented attitude and can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational methods and top-notch multi-tasking skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Incessant curiosity, innovative thinking, and meticulous work habits
  • Strong understanding of the private and public markets
  • A background or interest in the private equity, venture capital, and M&A industries
  • Exemplarily verbal and written communication skills; comfortable to engage a diverse array of audiences
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented attitude
  • 1-2 years professional experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools including Power BI, SQL
  • Proficiency in Python preferred
