Job Description Firmwide Data Management (FDM) is aligned to the Chief Data Office (CDO) and was created with the mission to help improve the quality, integrity, and reliability of the firm's critical data. The CDO serves as the governing body to create Firmwide standards that drive consistent data management practices, develop technologies and processes to support data management processes, partner with lines of business and functional groups to embed data management best practices and capabilities, and ensure sustainability by refining, measuring, and improving the firm's ability to manage data. Supported functions within FDM include Data Quality Issue Management, Data Governance, Data Use, Data Protection, Data Retention & Destruction, and Data Storage. The FDM Controls function manages the design and assessment of the FDM Operational Risk and Control environment in accordance with CORE standards and provides team members with guidance and support in Controls-related matters. The FDM Controls team also provides risk-based analysis in support of FDM project and initiatives.
The FDM Data Management Controls Lead-VP is responsible for maintaining the Operational Risk and Control environment for Firmwide Data Management that promotes operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls, and timely resolution of issues. Additionally, this position partners with Chief Data Officers, Control Managers, Audit, Compliance, and other related areas to progress the Data Management control framework in a consistent and collaborative manner. Program/project management of Data Management/Control priorities will be a key component of the role.
Key responsibilities:

  • Execute the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) framework in accordance with the CORE Standards. Manage the continual maintenance and required controls testing activities which includes identifying processes/risks/controls, rating risks, documenting rating rationale, documenting controls, drafting control steps and substantiating controls through standard testing methodologies and key risk/performance indicators (KRI/KPIs).
  • Partner with stakeholders, Oversight and Controls, and Firm subject matter experts (i.e. Risk Management, Audit, Controllers, Compliance, Legal) to understand standards, policies and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance in the maintenance and modifications of the overall control framework, participating in key projects and providing ad hoc recommendations on procedural and/or policy changes.
  • Partner with the Control Manager network to drive FDM initiatives and collaborate on control-related Data Management adoption
  • Manage other Control functions for FDM, including the Material Risk Inventory, Business Resiliency, Issue/Action Plan Management, and IAS.
  • Perform project management and business analysis on other FDM control-related projects as required.


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of financial services experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated controls awareness through experience in operations management, audit or operational control of a processing environment
  • Knowledge of risk management tools
  • Excellent strategic and interpersonal skills; comfort with partnering with people at all levels and across all functional areas (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Controls, Technology, and Business Operations)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage responsibilities through a changing business landscape and drive initiatives to conclusion
  • Ability to effectively develop and lead projects / experience in project management
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong time management and multitasking ability
  • Demonstrated experience with all Microsoft Office products
  • Individual contributor - self motivated
  • Knowledge of CORE required
