Data Engineering Manager
Summary
Aristocrat is seeking for a leader in our Data Engineering team to build our Global Analytics Platform, support the BI and Reporting roadmaps by building the data architecture that informs and drives insight. This role needs strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills, a proven track record of leading and scaling data engineering teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively improve companies.
This manager would focus on maximizing the effectiveness of the team by growing individuals on the team removing roadblocks, advocating for their needs, and enabling their personal/professional growth & development while leading them to continuously navigate complex engineering problems and architect scalable solutions
What You'll Do

  • Build and lead a high-performing Data Engineering team. Inspire and deliver data engineering innovations that fuel the growth of business, coach team members and grow the skill sets
  • Drive a Data Engineering roadmap, prioritize engineering requests based on the needs of the business
  • Define and manage a long-term vision and portfolio of initiatives to improve the user experience and business results through creating world-class data infrastructure and enabling data-driven science solutions, including algorithms and models in future
  • Drive the design, building, and launching of new dashboards, data models and data pipelines in production
  • Ability to design data systems that can scale
  • Partner with the Architecture/COE team of Data Engineering to align the solutions to the existing standardized data framework and integration strategies
  • Provide technical leadership in data engineering practices. Partner with business leaders to establish a strong relationship and trust for prioritizing and delivering projects on time and with a high degree of quality
  • Create and foster an environment that values and promotes an inclusive approach to problem solving and continuous learning to improve
  • Lead your team with integrity where your employees feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them
  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing, and developing employees, identifying, and managing risks, and completing daily management task
  • Partner with the data engineering team, technology architects and software developers to empower lines of business with business intelligence and analytics


What We're Looking For

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Deep analytical background with an MS in mathematics, statistics, computer science or relatable experience
  • Deep understanding of data management practices and the data lifecycle
  • 5 or more years of experience in managing, mentoring analysts, data scientists or data engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages PHP, Python and Java
  • Cloud data warehousing tools Snowflake, Azure Athena, GCP Big Query or Azure is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, Looker and/or other reporting visualization tools
  • Experience in agile methodologies are a plus.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and operating analytics and insights in a hybrid enterprise environment that blends on-prem and cloud data
  • Meets challenges consistently and confidently with energy and drive. Motivated by results, urgency and personal commitment
  • Possesses high integrity and exceptional work ethic. Fosters mutual trust and respect, and is an excellent team player
  • Able to work effectively in a highly complex matrix environment, with a proven ability to influence without formal authority and achieve results through people
  • Understands the link between excellence in data acquisition/warehousing/insights, and how to leverage this as a competitive advantage in the marketplace
  • Applies effective communication techniques, engages in focused dialogue, and demonstrates good listening skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Outstanding oral, written and communication skills with the ability to present to small and large groups including Global Executives and deal with unexpected questions and challenges while presenting
  • Excellent and proven project management skills
