The Data Engineering Manager will lead development, delivery, and maintenance of data pipelines, analytic applications, and dashboards to support internal and external customers. The successful traits of this technology leader will combine passion for technical innovation, quick prototyping skills, rapid iteration, and delivery as well as full accountability for the quality, availability, and performance of the data platform at iHeartMedia.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of full-time data engineers.
  • Assist team members when needed in designing and building data pipelines, data models, API's, etc.
  • Develop team members through coaching and training.
  • Collaborate with technical and operational peers across iHeartMedia to ensure that our technical direction and approach aligns vertically throughout the technology stack.
  • Keep abreast of industry standards and ensure we are driving those that are important to us and aligned with others as appropriate.
  • Ensure high levels of operational discipline and high availability for the analytics platform
  • Perpetuate a data-driven culture with high standards of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation and contribute to the global enterprise vision for the data platform and data ops at iHeartMedia.
  • Communicate with internal and external partners regarding development status and daily operations.



Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and leading a distributed team and delivering software solutions
  • Must be comfortable working in an agile development environment with shifting priorities
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills are a must in this role.
  • Experience in an agile development environment (Scrum and/or Kanban)
  • Hands on coding experience
  • Proficient in SQL and Big Data as well as data modelling
  • Experience with data integration in AWS or GCP
  • Experience with cloud-based big data platforms such as BigQuery, EMR, or RedShift.
  • Demonstrated understanding of distributed systems, modern operating systems, and networking
  • Knowledge of data integrations, data lakes and data warehouses in the cloud
  • Working knowledge of containers and container orchestration



Required Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years leading software or data engineering teams in a manager position
  • 5+ years of "hands on the keyboard" building software as part of an agile team
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics, or Applied Math
