Job Description As a member of the Credit Risk Technology Engineering Group, we look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. What we do
Our team develops and maintains the Credit Risk Technology applications used by Credit Executives as the key tool to manage and approve credit for the firm's clients. Our focus encompasses the full stack of application ownership, including enterprise infrastructure, application design, cyber security controls, and high availability / resiliency. We use and explore a wide range of leading-edge technologies including Java, Spring, AWS, Apache Kafka, Elastic Search, ReactJS, and many others.
What you will do
As a Data Engineer on our team you will assist in building a plan for our next generation Platform and \"the Analytics\" for our Data and Demystifying (DnD) Team. The Data Engineer will perform some full stack development work with emphasis on back end aspects like application workflows, business logic, and data stores; assist in making platform decisions (tools and technologies) which fit specific business needs; and assist in automation and orchestration tooling.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience (min. 3-7 years)
  • Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
  • Experience with data lake technologies such as Kafka, Avro, Parquet and Spark
  • Good knowledge with data orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or Luigi
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders while being able to work autonomously
  • Integrating national and tactical data architectures into enterprise data representations (or formats) that can produce outputs to support multiple system architectures. This includes systems and data architecture and integration, data modeling, and data mapping in direct support of enterprise technology leadership.
  • Maintaining awareness of commercial data standards and community data standardization activities.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and troubleshooting skills, ability to relate to business domain problems
  • Ability to lead a scrum team including hiring, onboarding, mentoring & performance management
  • Ability to partner & collaborate with other teams on larger projects including scope and prioritization negotiations & recommendations
  • Passionate about building an innovative culture
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement
  • Core Java and the Servlet API
  • Spring/Spring MVC/Spring Boot
  • Web development fundamentals, Web services (SOAP and REST)
  • Messaging / Asynchronous communication interfaces
  • Threading
  • JUnit & Test-Driven Development
  • Web UI development fundamentals (HTML, CSS, web debugging tools, etc.)


Additionally, an understanding of at least some of these technologies and practices is beneficial:

  • Agile/Scrum
