Job Description:
The Data Engineer II role is to participate in the development of a knowledge graph application. Responsible for enabling analysis and optimization. Actively involved in the research and development efforts. Ability to create sophisticated, value-added analytic systems that support revenue generation, risk management, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, and research. Responsible for adoption of enterprise information products through clearly communicating how enterprise information products answer material banking questions leading to decisions and actions. Able to lead or work independently on complex projects and influence strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual contributor role practicing and enabling data science at Bank of America
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and presents results in a clear manner
  • Performs tasks of data wrangling and feature engineering
  • Ensures data integrity for analysis and modeling
  • Data visualization
  • Approach data and modeling challenges with a clear eye on what is important; employing the right approach/methods to make the maximum use of time, machine and human resources.
  • Carefully listen to business partners, analysts, and other modelers to establish requirements and ensure proper representation of information for models.
  • Apply structure and order to communication and documentation for data products and Model Management. Minimize risk by following best practices.
  • Listens to experts, has a curious and exploring nature, continually pushes self to learn, receives constructive feedback well.
  • Technical Proficiency: Python Programming and Familiarity with Agile Development and related tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, and Ansible Tower
  • Experience in: Neo4J Graph Database and Cypher Query Language, Unix shell scripting, Python Flask, API Development


Required Skills

  • 2+ years of related work experience, such as deep analytics of large data, exploratory modeling
  • Experience with SQL data engineering, including exploring and incorporating new data sources
  • 2+ years of experience writing Python code, including API experience and understanding of data types
  • Graph database, Graph theory
  • Agile Methodology and Artifacts, JIRA, Confluence content creation
  • Bitbucket / Git (or other version control)


Desired Skills
Additional Programming Languages, for example, SAS, R, C++, Julia Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, feature engineering Understanding of machine learning techniques able to demonstrate basic understanding of algorithms
