Your Role and Responsibilities
The Data Engineer will lead overall Data Engineering activities. They will define and execute a strategy, followed by multiple agile sprints to support the execution of data accquisition, data analysis/interpretation, build data perpspectives, data cataloging, and activities leading into building of a modernized Data Fabric and Platform in support of multiple ERP systems of record and data feeds.

The Data Engineer will:
  • Analyze and organize raw data and Build data systems and pipelines
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives
  • Interpret trends and patterns and conduct complex data analysis and report on results
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling and build algorithms and prototypes
  • Combine raw information from different sources and explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition and develop analytical tools and programs
  • Improve the quality and accuracy of the information, enabling businesses to make more responsible business decisions
  • Collaborate with customer and IBM DataOps teams
  • Understand current data topologies and workloads
  • Assess customer maturity, identify customer pain points, gaps and their needs (use cases)
  • Develop and recommend modern architecture components in support of data governance needs
  • Successfully implement the recommended data architecture for a given use case

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in data acquisition, integration, orchestration, and collaboration with technical DataOps activities and teams
  • Experiences with ERP, CRM or data warehousing
  • Strong knowledge in ETL methods and working with databases
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with SQL database design, complex query writing, numerical and analytical skills
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, schema design, and development
  • Good understanding of at least one coding language (e.g., Java, Python, Scala, etc)
  • Knowledge in business intelligence, infrastructure, data engineering, data analytics, or a related subject
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex, technical information in an understandable manner
  • Ability to logically troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, and present suggested solutions clearly and concisely
  • Ability to handle competing priorities flexibly and address each in an effective and timely manner in a fast-paced working environment

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • AWS Cloud (certified practitioners preferred)
  • At least 1 year of DataBricks (or equivalent) for lifecycle data management and implementation
  • At least 1 year of DataOps Lifecycle (including cataloging, governance, conversion, quality, pipeline creation)
  • At least 1 year Data Fabric/Mesh/Lakehouse knowledge or other data implementation experience
  • Experience with Public Sector Clients (US Federal, Higher Education, State and Local Governments)
  • Experience and knowledge working with Data Catalogs (e.g. Watson Knowledge Catalog, Collibra, Apache Atlas)
  • Experience working with Data Warehouse technologies (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake)
