About the opportunity

You’ll join our Global Data Engineering team — the team that provides expertise and support to our five business verticals. You’ll work hand in hand with internal stakeholders to help them overcome obstacles by understanding their unique goals and challenges, so they can focus on what really matters - helping our customers succeed.

This role is suited to an experienced Data Engineer or BI developer.

Reporting into the Manager of Data Engineering & BI (NZ), you’ll be responsible for 2 primary deliverables:

1) Supporting the team to deliver and maintain data products that have been developed for our Payments subsidiaries. Primarily through ETL development skills, data modelling and reporting.

2) Contribute in a global sense to the delivery of our enterprise cloud based data platform, built on Snowflake, focusing on cloud based technologies as the assets are migrated.

Some of the other responsibilities you’ll have:

  • Data Modelling and providing BI dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the delivery of quality data and robust analytical models along with data visualisation for internal and external customers
  • Utilise existing skills to contribute to the Data team productivity, through development efforts in SSIS ETL, SQL and PowerBI dashboard reporting.
  • Ensuring scheduled work is documented appropriately, is completed on time, to specifications and to an acceptable quality.
  • Conducting peer reviews and handover sessions as required with team members.
  • Assist with planning and delivering a move from an on-premise based environment to cloud based technology, through the design and implementation of best practice principles and solutions

Qualifications

What would make me a good candidate?

  • A minimum of two years experience as either a Data Engineer or BI developer
  • Solid experience developing ETL processes in SQL SSIS and SQL including Database development, stored procedures and T-SQL scripting.
  • Experienced with SSAS and Power BI (including DAX) and experience with Microsoft Cloud BI stack would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, would be desirable
  • Proactive, self-motivated learner with a strong drive to achieve personal goals
  • Ability to work in a team where you manage your own time and priorities
  • Motivated by a fast-growing environment where you will have to constantly adapt - no two days are the same!
