As the Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of enterprise-level, software-based technical solutions for Optum Care. Specific team responsibilities include providing technical services to underpin our reporting infrastructure and solution implementation projects. Assist with ongoing development, integration, and deployment solutions for Optum Care Delivery Organizations (CDOs) and hosting infrastructure. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the production data refresh process.
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to understand business requirements, data needs and reporting needs
  • Help gather requirements and create BRDs
  • Communicate project progress to stakeholders and business leaders at every step of the project
  • Help with project management tasks as needed
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams to identify business, data and reporting needs and assist where needed
  • Support short- and long-term operational/strategic business activities through business and data analysis
  • Develop relationships with internal customers to foster collaboration. Exhibit confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project leaders
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Work with product owners to develop business cases, as required
  • Consult with and advise product owners when defining product release content and timeline, applying product development principles, innovative thinking and a focus around the customer or user experience
  • Assist with the elaboration of the user stories and requirements, supporting team members with their work where required
  • Analyze, review, forecast and trend complex data, reviewing the analysis and interpretation of others' work
  • Develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes
  • Support short- and long-term operational/strategic business activities through analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis including experience with a solid understanding of data storage structures
  • 2+ years of experience working with, analyzing, and understanding data using SQL
  • Experience in analysis of business processes and workflows, and providing evaluations, benchmarks, and/or process improvement recommendations
  • Working knowledge of Tableau or Power BI


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • 2+ years of CMS Star Specification and NCQA HEDIS measure requirements knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience in determining scalable operations and optimal requirements for transition to production operations
  • Experience gathering business requirements
  • Develop analysis and design of transactional systems and/or programs
  • Expertise in working closely with business and IT stakeholders to define problems and design large-scale, enterprise class solutions
  • Assist subordinates with debugging whenever necessary
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment where documentation for job execution isn't yet fully flushed out
  • Highly analytical, curious, and creative
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $87,900 to $156,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
