The Credit Ecosystem team is the beating heart of Credit Karma!  The work we do is challenging but rewarding as we enable both product and data engineering with credit data being the lifeblood of Credit Karma.  We’re responsible for building and maintaining the international data platform used to power real-time user experiences and transforming data used for feature engineering.  We want to grow with and learn from you

Your unique mission as a Data Engineer on the Credit Ecosystem team is to contribute to our engineering efforts around partner data ingestion and drive value along the way that will influence our entire engineering organization.  Additionally, with over 100 million US members, security is a core value at Credit Karma.  Safeguarding their sensitive information is critical to our continued success.  From the CEO down to each individual engineer, everyone views security as a personal responsibility. 

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to critical efforts designing and building new capabilities for our Data Pipelines, Data Warehouse, Data Security and Data Quality
  • Influence the features and direction of our products with your own ideas
  • Identify ways to improve our technology and process
  • Participate in code and technical design reviews
  • Take an active role in the technical growth of other team members and the processes that support overall team growth
  • Scoping and planning work across multi-team efforts, working closely with business partners to define a product vision in technical terms, and plan implementation and delivery

Minimum Basic Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience developing large-scale, high-volume services
  • 3+ years of significant professional experience in server-side development leveraging Scala
  • 2+ years of experience managing streaming data pipelines using Kafka / Google Pub/Sub and large scale data products.
  • Knowledge in microservice architectures, messaging patterns, deployment models, domain driven design, data pipelines and data warehouses. . 
  • Professional experience across the entire software development process, from development environment, to CI & CD, to production deployment, product and application performance measurement

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Enthusiasm for learning about security products, features, and strategies
  • Approaches problems with a pragmatic, analysis driven approach - understands trade-offs between perfection and time, with an eye towards iterative delivery of product features, and utilizes this capacity to plan and deliver on product requirements
  • Confident articulating complex technical content to peers and partners
  • Scala experience a plus 
  • DevOps experience a plus, specifically using Google Cloud
