Love data? This one is for you! In this role, you'll build and deliver complex data pipelines to provide business insights for current and future customers. Your focus on scale ensures these critical pipelines can be used for operational and reporting alike, in support of a single customer or an entire business. Processing complex information on system availability, performance, and capacity, your penchant for clean data and efficient processing ensure a high degree of data integrity in a modern, cloud-based microservices environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test data pipeline and reporting solutions targeted at Viasat's satellite services around the globe
  • Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources using AWS and SQL technologies
  • Use rapid development and continuous deployment techniques to deliver solutions into production networks, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics
  • Work with development, operations, and business teams to establish requirements, use cases, and acceptance criteria



Requirements

  • 4+ years' experience in software development including experience with data pipelines/ETL and databases
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud development technologies and best practices
  • Proficiency with RedShift/Postgres/SQL, especially in big data environments
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and documenting scalable software systems in Python, Java, or similar
  • Detail-oriented eye for well-designed data pipelines, schemas, and visualizations
  • Successful collaboration in a high-paced team environment with other developers, managers, and product owners
  • Experience in writing automated unit and integration test cases



Preferences

  • Experience with data governance and data inventory management
  • Advanced knowledge of Python, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, AWS Batch, Redis, RedShift, and Postgres
  • Experience with Docker, Git, Splunk, and Jenkins
  • Telecom or related operational service experience, especially wireless networks
  • Financial and business acumen in telecom space

The starting salary for this position is $131,000 annually, but an offered salary may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience. This position may also be eligible for other cash or stock incentives, including Viasat's Employee Stock Purchase Program, which allows Viasat employees to purchase Viasat stock at a discount.
