Job Description The Sales, Marketing, and Client Experience Technology team within the Commercial Bank is looking for a senior Data Architect who can help to define, socialize, and implement a data architecture. Our area is in a period of growth where we are actively integrating with numerous CB and firm wide systems and starting to ingest more 3rd party data. The increased volumes of data that we are generating, consuming, and analyzing are putting pressures on legacy processes while also creating new opportunities to leverage data for deriving insights and automating decision-making. We require a Data Architect who can understand the bigger picture data challenges across our 3 domains and who can devise and drive implementation of a data strategy to address these challenges. This person must be a strategic thinker who is comfortable with ambiguity, collaborative debate, creating order out of chaos, negotiating with senior business and technical leadership, and defining a roadmap where none exists. The data strategy must not only solve the challenges of our 3 domains, but it must be compatible with and complement the Commercial Bank's data and architecture strategy. Therefore this role requires extensive collaboration with CB's central Data team, Data and Analytics Team, and Engineering and Architecture team. This is in addition to working closely with all application teams within our 3 domains and all systems with which we integrate and exchange data.
This role is primarily a technical strategy, design, and leadership role, but excellent hands-on engineering skills are expected and required for deep analysis. The broad set of hard technical skills as well as non-technical skills required include the following:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in database design, data modeling, and enterprise architecture
  • Experience delivering business-facing applications at enterprise scale
  • Experience in defining and implementing technical strategy and architecture at the enterprise level
  • Deep experience/knowledge in designing, building, and testing enterprise-wide data warehouses, data lakes, and big data platforms
  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies and cloud tools
  • Deep experience and/or mastery of most if not all of the following: data modeling tools, relational databases, document databases, NoSQL databases, data warehouses, ORMs, caching/query layers, Hadoop/Spark, ETL, Kafka, REST services, API Gateways and/or ESBs, data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills necessary to partner with and influence senior business stakeholders and technical counterparts
  • Solid understanding of Domain Driven Design
  • Experience leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
