The role of the Enterprise Data Architect is to expand Donaldson's use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The Enterprise Data Architect will achieve this by strategically designing, developing, and implementing capabilities and data models for enterprise-level applications and systems. These models shall be architected at the following layers: conceptual, logical, business area, and application. This individual will act as the primary advocate of data modeling methodologies, data processing best practices and data governance oversight.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise information architecture strategy including data models, data strategy (e.g. management, integration and optimization), data governance and other key strategy artifacts.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to obtain strategic requirements, colleagues to lead project delivery, vendor partners on product selections and research partners to understand the industry technology architecture view.
  • Create the conceptual architecture and data solution design for projects (conceptual model, integration model, sourcing) in alignment with the portfolio and enterprise data strategy.
  • Translate enterprise or business needs into long-term information architecture patterns and solutions.
  • Apply enterprise vision to projects and communicating different architectural models/strategies that are consistent with business strategies and comply with enterprise architecture direction.
  • Provide governance oversight to ensure project adherence to information architecture strategy, principles, standards, policies, and procedures throughout all project phases.
  • Develop and build strong relationships and use effective communication skills to influence and accomplish strategic information architecture objectives.
  • Lead the development and evolution of the Enterprise Reference Architecture and the Information Architecture.
  • Communicate and ensure adherence to sound data management principles as well as creating and managing meta-data and business rules for the use of data.
  • Establish guiding principles and a reusable methodology for managing information architecture deliverables.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; or related work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience as a senior-level Data, Solutions or Technology Architect working on significant enterprise change initiatives.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise with repository creation, and data and information system life cycle methodologies.
  • Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, reporting structures, and so on.
  • Experience with database platforms, including Oracle, MS SQL Server, No SQL, SnowFlake
  • Understanding of Web services (SOAP, XML, UDDI, WSDL).
  • Experience with Azure, Databricks, Data Platform (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lakes, Azure Synapse)
  • Experience in Data Modeling (Tabular), Power BI, SQL Server, and T-SQL Development
  • Experience with canonical and message modeling
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
