The Opportunity
The Adobe Commerce Data Solutions team is looking for a Data Architect passionate about retrieval systems and large scale indexing pipelines. We sit at the intersection of data and machine learning and build intelligent commerce solutions for AI filled shopper experiences, such as Live Search, Product Recommendations, merchandizing, business intelligence - just to name a few. This position includes ownership of data projections at the edge, optimized for multi-tenant retrieval and storage, and operationalizing indexing and ML pipelines.
What you'll Do

  • Provide data projections at the edge to service low latency retrievals for various applications.
  • Define, design, implement and deliver large scale data pipelines for behavioral signals, clickstream and business events.
  • Work with multi-functional teams across Adobe to realize maximum customer value.
  • Ensure high services quality and availability by following service operation methodologies and industry standards
  • Take ownership and help improve the performance and scalability of the product. You'll also ensure a strong emphasis on monitoring and metrics for analyzing health and usage of features.
  • Implement continuous validation process of the data pipelines.
  • Actively participate in the end-to-end development of future vision and architecture of our Commerce SaaS platform.
  • Work in a Lean-Agile environment.


What you need to succeed

  • Bachelors/Master's degree with a focus in Information Technology / Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent Communications skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong background in distributed systems and service oriented architectures
  • Proficient in developing/designing complex distributed ETL/ELT pipelines, as well as data management, modeling, and storage
  • Proficient with Lucene/ElasticSearch based retrieval systems
  • Proficient working in Microservices (gRPC, REST or GraphQL)
  • Proficient Java developer (or a comparable mainstream language) with 7+ years hands-on experience
  • Preferably worked with NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Mongo), Data Warehouses (presto, impala, snowflake, redshift), streaming technologies such as Kafka
  • A plus if you have familiarity with writing Spark jobs
  • Knowledge of virtualization technology such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • Navigates ambiguity well. Arbitrates technical tradeoffs with an eye toward long-term scalability goals.

  • Strong sense of ownership; desire to be involved in the full lifecycle of a project from concept to completion
