Please review the following job description:

Define and document the technical architecture of the data warehouse, including the physical components and their functionality. Derives infrastructure system specifications from business requirements, design solutions that support core organizational functions, and ensure their high availability and other performance goals. Provides integrated infrastructure-related technical expertise across the organization, from conceptualization and project planning to the post-implementation support level.

The successful candidate will:• Design development of the conceptual, logical, and physical data models, implement on-prem and cloud native RDBMS, operational data store (ODS), data marts, and data lakes on target platforms (SQL).• Optimize the use of Cloud platform architectures and applications to build, deliver, and support data solutions to meet the business needs.• Oversee and assist with the expansion of existing data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices. The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively.• Provide technical expertise and industry knowledge to interpret business needs and implement innovative data solutions integrating data from disparate sources.• Research and maintain knowledge in emerging technologies and solutions to solve business problems.• Convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives and measurable results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides infrastructure system expertise, requirements and assistance to Systems and Database Administrators, other System Architects and application development teams.
  • Partners with line of business (LOB) teams, external vendors, and internal Data Services team to develop system specifications in compliance with corporate standards for architecture adherence and performance guidelines.
  • Provides technical resources to assist in the design, testing and implementation of software code and infrastructure to support Data Infrastructure and Governance activities.
  • Assesses current technical architecture and estimate system capacity to meet near- and long-term processing requirements. Evaluates, selects, tests, and optimizes hardware and software products.
  • Consults with end-users, clients and senior management to define infrastructure requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
  • Oversees development and implementation of end-to-end integration of infrastructure solutions.
  • Documents the Bank's existing solution architecture and technology portfolio. Documents and communicates needs for investing in infrastructure evolution, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison with Enterprise Architects to conduct research on emerging technologies, and recommend technologies that will increase operational efficiency, infrastructure flexibility and operational stability.
  • Engage the business users to assess their information needs for reporting requirements.
  • Review the business process and conceptualize the entities that interoperate within the business process.
  • Grow data platform capabilities to solve new data problems and challenges leveraging approved Cloud platforms (AZURE, AWS)
  • Act as a Mentor with a focus on building the team's technical expertise
  • Evaluate implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
  • Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models.
  • Develop a logical data model and validate the model to ensure that it serves the needs of the business application and its consumers.
  • Collaborate with the BI and Analytics teams on creating the optimized, reusable semantic model, complete with metadata and lineage information.
  • Optimize the model to ensure predictable performance.
  • Recommend and establish standards, guidelines, and procedures for design and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field, ten years of experience in data warehousing architectural approaches or equivalent education and related training or experience
2. Ability to derive technical specifications from business requirements and express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to multi-disciplinary teams, in verbal as well as in written form
3. Deep knowledge of SQL, Spark, Python, Git, ETL/ELT tools, Data Modeling tools

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Banking or financial services experience

  • 6+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ETL and data ingestion protocols) with proficiency in industry standard techniques for data modeling.
  • 4+ years data strategies and developing physical data models on RDBMS, NoSQL and Cloud native databases.
  • 4+ years of experience designing, executing, and supporting IT cloud solutions.
  • Proven experience in an enterprise environment developing relational databases both on-prem and Cloud native databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, and Synapse.
  • Proven experience architecting and developing models for data warehouse and Data Lake especially for enterprise reporting and analytics applications.
  • Good knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (Erwin or ER Studio or others).
  • Proficient in Data Governance practices and experience.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • In depth knowledge of modeling methodologies and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Master's Degree in information technology management-related curriculum, strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of data modeling experience and working with various file formats for data sourcing.
  • Cloud Certification(s) in any one of the cloud technologies (AZURE, AWS, Google)
  • In depth knowledge of the Erwin data modeling tool or similar modeling tool.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies with a preference of Scrum and/or SAFe a strong preference.
