The Data and Modeling Analyst position will assist in completing projects related to health insurance, long-term care insurance, and related predictive modeling for the Minneapolis Health and Life practice using data processing and actuarial modeling software to support any of our clients' needs.Detailed DescriptionIndependent for over 75 years, Milliman delivers market-leading services and solutions to clients worldwide. The analyses and techniques used provide clients with accurate and easily interpreted business results. Employees balance working independently and collaborating with other team members. Data analysts and subject matter experts work closely together to ensure solutions are both accurate and solving the correct problem for the client.RoleYou will:
- Problem-solve using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to synthesize and analyze data and information,
- Process data for actuarial models and visualization,
- Present results to peers and project leaders,
- Draft written reports and prepare other external/internal correspondence,
- Prepare and document project files, and
- Assist with research and business development projects.
- Strong technical and analytical skills,
- Strong attention to detail,
- Good communication skills, including the ability to express complicated technical concepts verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences,
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet, and word processing software,
- Working knowledge of database applications, Access, SQL, VBA,
- Computer and statistical programming experience, SAS, Python, and / or R,
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of mathematics, computer science, or economics, and
- GPA 3.0 or higher.
- MG-ALFA® or similar actuarial projection software experience,
- Knowledge of large-scale machine learning tools/platforms such as DataBricks,
- Curiosity and self-direction,
- 0-3 years of experience in healthcare, insurance, financial reporting, or a related field,
- GPA 3.5 or higher, and
- Experience with cloud computing.
