Data Analytics Analyst, Sr. (Data Engineer)

This position will support the Gas Data Analytics & reporting team in the Operational Excellence department of Gas Technology Solutions organization within the Southern Company Technology Organization.

The Gas Data Anlaytics & Reporting team designs, develops, implements and supports data-solutions for the Gas business.

The Data Analytics Analyst, Sr. will work with stakeholders - both business and IT to review functional and non-functional requirements, design, develop, implement, and support data engineering and analytics solutions involving On-Prem and Microsoft Azure cloud technologies that align with and support the Gas business and Technology Organization strategy and standards. Additionally, this position will be responsible for management and alignment of solutions across all technology platforms working closely with Architects, data, and infrastructure teams to optimize application code, ensuring data integrity, security, stability, resiliency, sustainability, growth, and performance. This position will also be responsible to support existing data integration and analytics solutions as well as designing and developing new solutions. Additionally, the Data Analytics Analyst, Sr is expected to participate in knowledge sharing and own technical issue resolution.

This position will report to IT Supervisor, Data & Analytics in the Gas Technology Service organization.

Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field.
• 6 years hands-on experience with full life-cycle implementation and support of DW/BI solutions.
• 5 years hands on experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting data engineering and analytics solutions
• using on-premises tools such as, MSBI (SSIS/SSAS), Informatica, Oracle Golden Gate, SQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• 3 years hands on experience designing, developing and supporting Data ingestion, integration solutions using Microsoft.NET.
• 2 years hands on experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting data visualization and analytics solutions using Microsoft reporting tools such as MSRS/SSRS and Power BI.
• Experience in creating functional and technical designs for data engineering and analytics solutions.
• Experience implementing data models of different schemas and working with diverse data source types.
• Hands-on experience developing solutions with big data technologies such as Hadoop, HIVE and Spark.
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting Python based AI/ML solutions.
• Hands-on experience developing automation solutions using tools such as Autosys.
• Experience with Containerization methodologies - Docker, OpenShift etc.,
• Experience with Agile as well as DevOps, CI/CD methodologies
• Experience with designing re-usable solution components and perform code-reviews.
• Experience working in a medium to large enterprise setting and collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Certification
• Experience in Utilities, Preferably Gas
• Experience in Data Governance processes and tools such as Informatica Data Catalog
• Experience in Data Quality processes and tools such as DQS
• Hands-on experience designing and developing solutions involving data sourcing, enrichment and delivery using APIs & Web Services.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Knowledge and understanding of the GAS (Utilities) Industry and related data and analytics strategies.
• Hands-on experience wiht JIRA and/or Azure DevOps
