The Data Analyst contributes to our monetary policy and other economic research by providing critical data analysis and support to department researchers. The Data Analyst uses appropriate statistical and econometric skills to deliver cleaned, complex datasets and analysis of those datasets. Incumbents in this position demonstrate a thorough understanding of the economy and complex economic datasets by undertaking independent analyses of current economic issues and communicating insights in writing to economists and other senior Bank executives.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Provide expertise in large datasets and deliver data in appropriate formats to economists and other researchers in response to research project requests. Use statistical packages (i.e., STATA, Python, R, and/or Matlab) to explore, organize, construct, run summary statistics, and analyze datasets with complex information.
2. Analyze economic and financial data using various statistical/econometric techniques. Assemble and present findings in writing to economists, the Bank President, and other senior staff.
4. Create and maintain custom databases using proprietary software. Design and populate databases with selected forecasts and other variables based on user input. Manage updating schedules to ensure timeliness and integrity of databases.
5. Develop reports and dashboards that provide insights into data assets. Drive projects to deliver descriptive analytics and dashboards to enhance understanding of data in our portfolio.
6. Develop and perform data quality control activities. Enhance documentation around datasets.
7. Engage in frequent communication with economists, and other senior officers.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision

• This position is not required to directly supervise others.

Knowledge and Experience

• Knowledge and experience normally acquired through, or equivalent to, the completion of a Master's degree in economics or related field and at least three years of job related experience.
• Demonstrates ability to perform quantitative economic research.
• Expresses ability to think critically and analyze data from a variety of sources.
• Exhibits excellent communication skills including strong verbal and writing skills.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently in an effective manner and as part of a team and to multi-task under tight deadlines.
• Exhibits proficiency with statistical and other software packages, (such as Stata, R, Python, etc.,) and proven ability to create meaningful data visualizations (using BI tools, such as Tableau).
