A role with the MerchandiseAnalytics team is a chance to shape how core merchandising teams place product and build strategies that directly impact the guest. This is a role for someone passionate about analytics, driving business decisions and strategy, and building trusted relationships with partners.
As a Data Analyst, you will support the Planning/Planning Operations teams and spend your time determining the best approach to gather, manipulate, analyze, and present data. You will work in with other analysts in a semi-agile environment to support assortment choice strategy, forecasting, inventory visibility, event reporting, etc. In this role, you'll have opportunities to continuously upskill to stay current with new technologies in the industry via formal training, peer training groups and self-directed education.
Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Serve as an advocate of our data-driven culture, helping then understand business needs that will direct their efforts towards initiatives with the highest impact
  • Synthesize analysis and results in compelling storylines and communicate to key stakeholders
  • Help define data to be collected for measuring the success of new product features, define KPIs, and work with engineering on tracking and instrumentation of data
  • Design and build self-service dashboards using a mixture of analytical and visualization techniques to derive actionable insight from data to influence business and product decisions
  • Democratize data and insights as you strive to deliver self-service tools to your partners and enable them to make better decisions more quickly
  • Deliver dashboard reporting and hold products and businesses accountable for results against goals and objectives


About You:

  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance in a quantitative field; or strong equivalent experience
  • Intermediate SQL experience writing complex queries
  • Solid problem solving, analytical skills, and data curiosity
  • Support conclusions with a clear, understandable story that leverages descriptive statistics, basic inferential statistics, and data visualizations
  • Willingness to ask questions about business objectives and the measurement needs for a project workstream, and be able to measure objectives & key results
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak to both business and technical teams, and translate ideas between them


Experience in analytics tools such as: SQL, Excel, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, R, Domo and/or equivalent technologies
This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location . A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.
Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $ 52,200-$94,000 .
